  1. lol here’s to hoping you don’t! Jk, my worst nightmare is Arch starting his Heisman campaign in Columbus, Ohio. Just like a Texas QB from 20 years ago that I forget the name of 😉
  2. I do just want to say that Carnell Tate was probably the 5th option in Ohio State’s offense and has nearly 2x the stats of Ryan Wingo in nearly every category. Catches, yards, and touchdowns.
  3. I know Texas fans will disagree, but I don’t think there’s an analyst anywhere that would take Texas’ WRs 2-5 over Ohio State’s either.
  4. As for your last point, I am worried about Sark vs. Patricia. I like the Patricia hire, don’t get me wrong, but first game going against one of the best play callers, if not the best play caller in the sport worries me.
  5. Hey Here for the Wins, thank you for you comment and I’ll give my opinions on each one of your comments 1. I believe Ohio State will have one of the best offensive lines in the country because they return all 3 of their IOL starters from last season as well as their top two backups. Aside from that, the tackles have reportedly played very well in fall camp. Also, Ohio State has invested heavily in the OL coaching staff this off season, which I believe is the largest OL staff in CFB. 2. Ohio State’s CB’s and safeties go up against Ohio State’s wide receivers every day in practice. They won’t face better receivers than what they see on the daily. Carnell Tate was highly sought after by Brian Hartline, so that tells me all I need to know about Tate. 3. As for the TE room, it’s not just Max Klare. That room goes 4 deep with legitimate P4 starters, but I have seen Max Klare on several first round mock drafts, I haven’t seen Endries on any mock drafts. 4. I could be undervaluing the wide receivers but how would I know when they’ve never done it before? 5. I’m very confident in Ohio State’s OL against Texas’ DL. Especially because I’m not expecting UT’s DT’s to be dominant and the IOL is Ohio State’s strength.
  6. Absolutely. Not only are they experienced and have played in big moments, the reporting out of spring and fall camps is that they have all taken the next steps in their games as well. Ohio State should have the better DT’s in this matchup. Texas will have the better edges and most likely better linebackers, although Ohio State’s linebackers are going to be nasty as well.
  7. This is game specific and this has to do with the offenses that each team is facing. I think Ohio State has the superior interior DL to Texas. I think Ohio State has the best defensive backfield in CFB. There isn’t a WR on Texas that is a threat to Ohio State’s DB’s while Texas’ D has to go up against the #1 WR/TE rooms in the country and one of the best OL’s.
  8. I agree. I think Texas’ OL is going to struggle massively.
  9. Reworked just as such a negative connotation. Ohio State’s DL will be one of the best in college football.
  10. In fairness to you all, he met his match in the Cotton Bowl :(, fortunately Ohio State was still able to eek out a W
  11. I just remember Trevor breaking off like a 60 yard TD run against Ohio State in the playoffs. Arch’s legs worry me as well.
  12. All very fair points and I think a lot of CFB analysts and national media agree with you. This is only my opinion, not necessarily shared by other Buckeyes, but I feel like Ohio State’s defense has a much larger advantage against Texas’ offense than Texas’ defense does against Ohio State’s offense. This is a bit ironic considering my last point, but I would say my biggest fear in this game is what if Sark coaches circles around Matt Patricia?
  13. There’s a very real possibility Ohio State returns all 11 starters next season. I think Arch compares very favorably to Trevor Lawrence. How do you feel about that comparison?
  14. I can definitely agree with you there that Baker, although I wouldn’t call him athletic (comparatively at least), I would definitely agree that he is “sneaky” athletic, or more athletic than given credit for. I think Sayin’s reputation will be very similar once he gets more playing time.
  15. Yeah, I think it’s best that we just agree to disagree. I’ve read every practice report for the past two years, listened to nearly every Ohio State podcast and watched every snap Baker took in the NFL preseason and regular season. I’m not sure where this reputation of Baker being athletic is coming from.
  16. I’m a diehard Cleveland Browns fan as well. It’s 100% correct.
  17. I never viewed Baker as much of a scrambler but Sayin is definitely more athletic than Baker.
  18. I wouldn’t call it a reworked defensive line. They are all 4 experienced players who have been in the program. Ohio State’s starting DT’s should be dominant.
  19. Ohio State doesn’t have an all new IOL. It’s probably the most experienced IOL in CFB.
  20. How could he have played 5 snaps when he was 3/6 passing for 19 yards? Also, I have a hard time believing playing Georgia at home (a team Notre Dame and Georgia Tech pushed around all night) is going to be “scarier” than The Shoe with four new OL and no proven wide receivers. You might want to lower your expectations just a little.
  21. LT on 8/30 will be Austin Siereveld who was the #1 IOL backup last season and beat out Ethan Onianwa for starting LT. Siereveld has been the talk of fall camp with his rapid ascension. RT Phillip Daniels. He started the 2nd half of last season for Minnesota as a true freshman, he was huge in PJ Fleck’s future plans for his OL. He beat out Ethan Onianwa for RT and by all accounts has been dominant in fall camp.
  22. Ohio State is returning all 3 IOL that started against Indiana, Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and Notre Dame. So really it’s semantics of whether you call Seth McLaughlin a starter lost or not. Against Texas, Ohio State’s starting offensive line was LT Donovan Jackson (a guard who never played tackle prior to kicking out due to injury) LG Luke Montgomery (he will be starting LG on 8/30 C Carson Hinzman (he will be starting C on 8/30) RG Tegra Tshabola (he will be starting RG on 8/30) RT Josh Fryar (he graduated, was a 3* coming out of high school who was ok, but definitely the weak link on the OL)
  23. Thank you all for having me. This has been the most cordial opposing team forum I’ve ever been on.
