  1. As an Ohio State fan it makes me happy that he gets two full weeks of all of the QB1 reps before facing Texas.
  2. Ryan Day’s press conference is today at 11:30am EST. Many believe he will announce QB1 at that time. Julian Sayin is still believed to be the overwhelming favorite.
  3. Especially tough because Justice Haynes left for Michigan in the portal.
  4. Also, Larry Johnson expands the DL rotation based on how many guys he has that has earned playing team. If there are only one or two backups that are ready to play at a high level, there won’t be much rotation. Historically LJ prefers to rotate often, which early in his tenure made Buckeye fans mad because we didn’t want Joey Bosa or Chase Young, etc taken off the field.
  5. This isn’t accurate at all. Please do not forget that Larry Johnson is an elite DL coach, a better DL coach than Knowles is a DC, and Knowles is a damn good DC. The reason Knowles left is because Penn State offered him $3M/year, which Ohio State was never going to match that, nor should they have.
  6. The story changed way before Knowles left. We didn’t know how reckless Knowles was until he faced more physical run games in the B1G. Knowles ran a 3-3-5, Ohio State’s roster was always built to run a 4-2-5. LJ wanted more aggressive DL, Knowles wanted his DL to contain more. Once Day interjected, Sawyer took off.
  7. Knowles was reckless before Ohio State with his blitzing and scheme, he over corrected after he was torched at Ohio State his first season and instead played conservative and simply relied on his players to “out athlete” other teams, which worked better until we faced equally as good of offenses like Oregon.
  8. This was from an Ohio State insider from Letterman Row after today’s scrimmage - 1. still see Sayin as QB1 after today. Would be surprised if he’s not the guy. Heard Lincoln had some really strong throws throughout the day but hearing the expectation is Sayin 2. The running backs and rushing attack continues to look like a strength of this team 3. still looking like the OL is (L to R) Siereveld Montgomery Hinzman Tegra and Daniels with Onianwa as the 6th man
  9. Yeah, Buckeye Nation is quick to blame the low hanging fruit, which is LJ due to his age and perceived lack of recruiting ability. As more and more reports came out it was widely understood that it was Knowles who was holding the D back. This came to be understood way before he left for Penn State.
  10. The issue with Knowles is that the defense didn’t become what it was last season until Ryan Day stepped in and made him change the way he called the game. Which was Day wanted Knowles to bring more pressure and be more creative with his blitz packages. It was the Oregon loss that brought about the change and you could see the difference in the second game against Oregon.
  11. It is, but another set of eyes scouting Sark’s tendencies can only be a good thing. All reports out of fall camp is that the defense should be elite again.
  12. Most Ohio State fans love the hire. The more NFL coaches that are working as analysts the better.
  13. Ohio State named their 2025 captains today after their second and final scrimmage of fall camp. They are Caleb Downs (FS) - 5* .9953 #7 overall recruit Sonny Styles (LB) - 5* .9937 #12 overall recruit Brandon Innis (slot WR, replacing Egbuka) -4* .9815 #38 overall receuit Austin Siereveld (LT) - 4* .9045 #302 overall recruit
  14. My hope is that this is somehow a negotiation tactic to get the SEC to come to the table regarding the 4-4-2-2-1-1 model.
  15. Nah, Pettiti is a TV guy. It’s all about what will make the most money for him. The B1G isn’t having any trouble winning in this era.
  16. Just to get this out of the way now, NO Ohio State fan supports this. No B1G fan supports this
  17. He *should* be, is what I should have said. If he isn’t ready now, he’ll never be.
  18. The reason Ohio State fans aren’t concerned about the new OC is because we view Day as one of the better play callers in the sport, and will Be there to take over should something go wrong with Hartline. Hartline has learned from Jim Tressel, Urban Meyer, Ryan Day, and Chip Kelly so he’s about as well prepared as an offensive coach can be
  19. Punting and field goal kicking wise, Ohio State really isn’t anything special. Not horrible, but if the game came down to a field goal I would not be confident
  20. I’m not necessarily saying Ohio State’s OL will be better than last season, just that there shouldn’t be any drop off. Ohio State’s OL can be one of the best in the country and still lose the battle to Texas’ front 7, they are that good lol
  21. Is this why so many people are confused on why Ohio State is favored? Do people really think Ohio State is replacing 4 offensive linemen?
  22. Ohio State is replacing two starters on their OL, not 4. LT Donovan Jackson and RT Josh Fryar, LG Luke Montgomery, C Carson Hinzman, and RG Tegra Tshabola all return. It appears as if Austin Siereveld who has been in the program for 3 years already will be LT, and Ethan Onianwa was one of the most sought after transfers from Rice at RT.
  23. I have no doubt Julian Sayin will eventually be an elite QB, but is he good enough right now to beat the #1 team in the country with an elite defense?
  24. You guys can speak on Texas’ side of things but for Ohio State, how the QB performs is the best predictor on if Ohio State can/will win or not. Ohio State’s WR, TE, and OL is championship caliber on offense. Ohio State’s LB & secondary are championship caliber on defense. The running backs and defensive line will be good to very good. It is all on Julian Sayin/Lincoln Keinholtz
  25. Picked Texas to win what? Also, we don’t know how good Sayin (or Keinholtz) will be, but Arch in his first start as the unquestioned QB1 isn’t going to find it easy winning on the road either. Sayin was 5* QB1 coming out of HS just like Arch was.
