  1. Yes! Glad to see Gerry back, love him. CJ and Gerry recruiting talks are about to be elite.
  2. That's something I really like, too. Getting the Texas talent is important, but there is a ton of talent country wide. I like that we're not afraid to go after them.
  3. They are definitely going to lose some big names, imo. If we can make it work for Texas, great, but it's big news. Moore might've been the good choice at HC but can he make good hires on the other side of the ball?
  4. This is good. With the weapons he has and the OL blocking for him, I'd say that would be a bare minimum.
  5. I think the biggest thing for Quinn next year as an indicator of success is, can he stay healthy and can he avoid unforced sacks. His stat line will take care of itself, imo.
  6. From what I read on 247sports from one of the posters there, is that he's been following both Texas and Oregon stuff on X. Plus with the smoke of the S&C coach leaving and multiple defensive coaches, there does seem to be something there.
  7. I think we only missed on Caldwell because of the Davis move to LSU. At least that was my opinion. He even seemed to be waiting for several days after Davis to maybe see what Texas would do, before he went in on Oregon. Either way, I really like our chances here if he does enter and it does seem likely he will. Adding him as a starter next to Collins would be huge. Would also make most feel good about the room (although I personally feel good about the room right now). I think interior DL is one area where Texas has not really recruited that well since Sark took over. Believe it's one area where he's looking to improve and start getting some of the top guys there.
  8. He's not in the portal, but he has been following Texas and Oregon stuff on X, apparently. But if there is truth in the S&C coach leaving, as well as multiple defensive coaches. It will be hard to keep all those defensive guys there, imo. Unfortunately, most of them won't be able to enrol until later and will miss spring ball.
  9. I think you'll see this # a lot bigger moving forward for Texas. We're just looking for the guys in that room to get bigger, stronger, etc. The room was quite young last year, outside of Sorrell. Burke is going to be a monster, imo. Vasek will, too, imo. Maybe not next year but he's got all the tools. Simmons will be a monster, too. Moore is a great addition and I think Sorrell will contribute. Key players I want to see take major steps forward (besides Vasek), are Akana and Walton. But also Guillette. We've heard so much about this young man, I really want to see him get a run somewhere. One thing to note, is we've been pretty high on getting pressure on opposing QB's the last 2 years. But we haven't been able to get home. I think this is the year we see that pressure continue but we finally get home a lot more often.
  10. Because he wanted to be closer to family and his grandchildren. Even now coaching at Lovejoy, he still won't be that far away. Plus it's hard for these guys to give it up. Look at coach Danaher, he was coaching well into his 70's. I think he just got the itch again and Lovejoy scratched it for him.
  11. This stems from Coach Terry's problem with it during the UCF game, I believe. Teams know he's soft when it comes to that, so they're trying to get in his head. I doubt any Texas fan or player is concerned about it. It's just apart of competitive sports, embrace the hate. Doesn't really matter what Texas does, opposing fans are going to call us soft or whatever, when it comes to horns down.
  12. You put it much better than I could. Being big is fine, but if it's not good weight, it'll work against you. Especially in a game of football. I think he'll come good. Playing on line (either side) is not easy to do coming out of HS. Typically it's not a plug and play position or at least you prefer it to not be. I think Texas has made great strides at the OL for that, now we need to see it for the DL.
  13. Well, I'm not sure it's a disconnect, more the fact he was only a Fr...I think we'll see a big jump from him in 2024, we heard good things about him towards the end of the year. If the effort is there on his part, he'll play a major role in Texas interior play this year.
  14. Will you guys be doing more baseball content? I'm not a baseball fan, I know next to nothing about the sport, but I'd be down to sit through some content for that.
  15. Not sure it can be used against him, when one of the best defensive coordinators in the league, Fangino, wanted him on his staff and he's been coaching the DL at various spots for 10 or so years now. I do understand your concern though, but negative recruiting is going to happen regardless of who is coaching/recruiting at the position. It's the nature of the business.
  16. I could see some defensive losses for them, apart from those headed to the NFL. Harbaugh is reportedly taking some of his staff with him, noted was the DC and I'd assume some more defensive guys. Maybe some offensive. If so, that could push some defensive guys to the portal. Not sure we really need anything besides 1 interior guy. Even then, I feel good about our interior, but another guy wouldn't hurt.
  17. I think they ease him into things like they did Hill, I think there is enough at Edge that I feel confident not to rely on a Fr straight away. But if he shows out and continues to get better, they'll have a hard time not getting him on the field. Funnily enough, I'm expecting Burke to have a huge year. Add some more good weight, continue to improve and have a really big Jr campaign. Sorrell, too. Think he's kind of hit a ceiling but I think he can be good for us. Same with the addition of Moore. I also think Vasek with a strong off-season can earn some playing time.
  18. I don't know what to think of the hire. Don't know much about him, but that doesn't mean it's a bad thing. From what I've read and heard about him from people like you guys at OTF, he sounds like a real up and comer. A guy that is waiting to be unleashed, so to speak. We all assumed it would be someone like Rod Wright, but it seems like Coach Sark was doing his homework, looking for some youth. This guy seems to exude energy and having Georgia ties is great, so many good players come out of the state of Georgia. We could certainly use the connections/ties. One thing we need to do is start hitting on big time recruits at that position. Coach Davis did a great job of developing what we had, but lacked heavily in recruiting. No problem with 3 star guys, but nothing wrong with grabbing some high 4 star and 5 star guys if we can. Development I'm not worried about, as he seems to do well at that from what I've read. We'll see what he can do with recruiting. If anything, I think Coach Sark has gained some trust/leeway in what he's done at Texas so far, after nuking the roster in 2021 or after 2021 and where he took the program to where it's on the current trajectory. Just my unwanted 2 cents.
  19. Terry got them on a roll since a pretty if bit of form against WV and UCF. Beating back to back ranked opponents, especially blowing out OU is a great return to form.
  20. I think if he was '25, we would've had a better chance. But it's not like if he goes to Auburn there isn't a loaded WR room there. Don't they already have 2 other 5 star WR's committed and got some guys through the portal? Only problem is, their QB situation isn't so great.
  21. It's a shame, but not really unexpected. WR is pretty loaded and he could see the field much sooner at Auburn. We already had 4 guys commit and sign with Texas, plus 3 from the portal. I'm assuming Auburn and Bama have been putting the pressure on him. Best of luck to the kid and hope he finds a good fit.
  22. Brandon Harris seems like a good dude. Wouldn't be surprised to see him getting an on field position somewhere in the next few years. Plus kids seem to love him on the recruiting trail.
  23. I've been reading that if Moore isn't named HC, that there could be a mass exodus. It would be surprising to me if they screw that up. Keeping Moore should be priority #1 for them, as he'll keep the majority of the team together. I've only read that Harbaugh would take his DC with him to the NFL, not sure who else he has one staff. If Moore stays, he could keep the bulk of the staff in place, including Mike Elston. I'll be curious to see what Michigan does. Not that long a go, they wanted to force Harbaugh out....so it's a weird world, lol.
  24. Would be hard to pull, Elston, as he's a Michigan alum, but he's a great developer and recruiter. Had some really good DL guys at Michigan. There is a chance he might get the bump to DC, too. As word is that if Harbaugh leaves, the DC from Michigan is likely to follow him. Will be interesting to see anyway.
  25. I posted this in another thread, but don't leave out Mike Elston from Michgan either. He could be another one that Coach Sark is after. Might not leave as long as Coach Harbaugh could potentially return. Either way, I have faith that the right hire will be made.
