Kevin C Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Assuming Heather D and others are correct that Texas doesn’t find a way to make the playoffs, this appears the most likely matchup for Texas in a Bowl Game. Could definitely make for a fun game (against UM) to finish the season. SeC v Big10. Two young QBs and programs on the rise for 26. Hook em!! 🧡🐂🤘🏼 2 Quote
Moderators Gerry Hamilton Posted 8 hours ago Moderators Posted 8 hours ago I also think it will be that game in Orlando December 31 Will have highest TV ratings outside playoff semi-finals and final Great college matchup 9 Quote
alrightalrightalright Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago (edited) That's what I've seen, too. I believe we'd win going away. 17+ point margin Edited 8 hours ago by alrightalrightalright Pending health and starters Quote
Tuco Ramirez Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Would love to shut Des up. Just hope enough starters play. 1 Quote

HudGar1922 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago sounds like a snoozer. I am with everyone on the drop the big time preseason games unless the networks payout the teams 30-40 million for the game. otherwise you risk losing the revenue for the playoffs if you lose that game. If strength of schedule doesn't matter, sprinkle in Lamar, SFA, UTRGV, taletlon st, and ACU so their programs can get some money for letting us play our 3rd stringers. 3 Quote

smokeyiii Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Playing Michigan or Miami is probably the best case scenario outside the playoffs. Go get a 10th win and build some confidence for 2026. Quote
antcan95 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Hill won’t play. Any chance we keep Arch out to protect his health? Do bowl games outside of the playoffs have any affect on final rankings for example if we blow them out, can we finish as a top 10 team? Quote

Better question… does finishing top 10 even matter at that point Quote

Nah, you get Arch as many reps as you can and build on a really good last month of ball. 1 Quote
drag worm Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago 18 minutes ago, dfwHorn said: Better question… does finishing top 10 even matter at that point 10 wins is definitely something that will be part of defining Sark’s run, however it winds up. 12-2, 13-3, 10-3 looks a lot better than 9-4 in that last spot. 2 Quote

Sanka Decaf Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Ironically, a Texas-Michigan bowl game will be just fine to the CFP committee - if anything, they could view it as making it easier to leave Texas out of the CFP this year. Quote
Kevin C Posted 48 minutes ago Author Posted 48 minutes ago Top 5 Reasons it could be a good thing for Texas to miss the playoffs. Not sure I’m on board with the overall theme but if we are gonna miss the playoffs, I do agree that Arch’s development this month with 15 practices plus ability to focus more on roster maximization (player retention, recruiting, portal) could be a positive result. Plus, if we are gonna miss tye playoffs, I absolutely love the idea of playing Michigan in the midday time slot on 12/31 before the first quarterfinal that night. Texas has oppty to make a big statement to the committee, similar to Georgia 2 yrs back against FSU. https://apple.news/ArUnn0v7FR_SktCQy4T10Ug Quote

That actually just seems like a lose lose situation to me. If you win, you’re just one of the 4 ranked teams that beat Michigan. If you lose, you’re the only ranked team that lost to Michigan. UGA could at least say they “destroyed an undefeated team” even though we all know that was garbage. There was also a minuscule chance of UGA losing that game. It was like the games where the NFL mascots play against children. Quote

People will always discredit the strength of Texas’ opponents no matter what anyway. Then if we lose, we lost to a crap team Quote
