I don’t know Texas’ finances, but I don’t think they’re working with unlimited funds. Our roster was already very expensive before the portal and while we cleared some over head it definitely got more expensive.

Think of this as a “spare no expense” season. The exposure that would give the University with a title attached to the Manning name would make that money back in 1000 fold. Texas is going John Hammond on this b*tch.

Special exemptions.. but its a slippery slope and not guaranteed. Any guy worth a damn and wants to make an impact this coming season wants to go thru spring practices and establish themselves. They have to be enrolled to do that, so that Add/Drop date is huge. Anyone you see that comes in the summer.. that guy is just a JAG. Only late addition we'll see that will have any impact, if any, on the 2026 season would be a Matty Ice type to save Dia's redshirt and give us some insurance behind Arch, while competing with KJ.
