If they get #12, they are bumping at worst #10. That’s assuming the G5 is outside the top 12 and potentially one conference champ? Quote
HalfmileHorn Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Notre Dame 13 team proposal - keep the current 12, ND plays the winner for all the marbles. The Fighting Irish unanimously approve. Quote
mmdaytontexas Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago ND and the 4 Auto Bids is bullshit. GROK AI should choose the best 12 teams based on about 100 different metrics and those 12 teams duke it out. . 2 Quote

Jacket Horn Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago So the committee could rank us 11 and ND 12 and they get in and we’re left out. Marvelous. All that means is the committee would go against their judgment in that situation and rank ND either ahead of us or 13. They won’t let it appear ND got in because of that agreement. Quote
4thandFive Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago I can deal with 12…the problem is the completely unfair JMU/Tulane type games that do not represent nearly the “best 12 teams.” 1 Quote
davisxcole Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Should be 16 with the 4 P4 champions get an auto bid then the next 12 best teams. 1v16 and on, no first round byes and the first 2 rounds are played at the higher seeds home stadium. Then the semis & natty payed at a neutral site. 2 Quote

If we play and lose history will repeat itself just not a smart decision to play this game. I absolutely do not agree. I would much rather have an exciting early season game to look forward to than play a meaningless game against a directional team. Things didn't work out for the team to make the playoff this past season, but to me that doesn't automatically mean we need to drop all games against P4 non conference teams in the future. Maybe don't schedule non conference games against the best of the best, going forward, but backing out of games is pretty cowardly if you ask me when you're a program like Texas with every possible advantage who should be able to compete with anybody. Nope, if that were the case the last 2 national champions would’ve been out of the playoffs. Expansion is the key to keeping players and fans engaged through the regular season and post season. More playoff spots=better regular season games e.g. osu tx, Mich tx etc. Quote
Alex Butler Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I’m so over ND and their special concessions. Join a conference or you don’t get a bid. The way it stands now as o understand there are 6 auto bids if you include ND and that ridiculous get in if 12 or higher. There is nothing like that in any other sport at any other level. It’s a travesty. If 12 teams are going to be in the playoffs we need to end automatic bids all together and have the top 12 selected. I’m very disappointed that expansion didn’t happen for 26. It gives so much more opportunity for players and fans to get the best football all season more big early season match ups and meaningful conference games. Just look at the last 2 seasons and the national champions coming from lower seeded teams (8 and 10) that wouldn’t have even been in the mix in year’s past. Even this season if you add a ND, TX, Vandy and BYU to the field you can’t tell me one of those 4 wouldn’t have at least move into the quarterfinals or semifinals. I’m actually for expansion to 24 with play-in games in lieu of conference championship games. Heck you could give teams that lose in the first two round an option to play each other in bowl games so those playoff teams that lose early still have the benefit of extra practices if they choose. Here for the Wins Posted 24 minutes ago Posted 24 minutes ago Just a little ironic that a team unable to win its conference or even participate in the conference title game can be a national champion. One an 8-9 game championship while the other is a 3 game championship. Quote
