Here for the Wins Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago 1 hour ago, Jeff Howe said: I’ll settle for a competent running game against high-level competition. Texas hasn’t had that against teams like Ohio State and Georgia. Sark didn’t completely allow for that versus Ohio State last year - 3rd and 3 from inside the 10 then back-to-back passes. We got 7 yards rushing on downs 1 and 2. We then went from the 9 to inside the 1 before the ill advised QB sneak. A QB sneak with G-C-G all covered, an MLB then another defender inside the RT. Very little the Oline could do there other than hope for a miracle. For Uga we actually got off to a good start. The complaint was we gave up on the run when really the missed passes fouled some drives up and then the 4th was out hand. Quote

Jonas Peterson Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago (edited) What's up with the attitude? I've been here since the very beginning because I enjoy Bobby, Gerry and crew better than the other sites. Part of that is because it's much friendlier over here. I watched Gerry talk about it before the scrimmage. I watch every show and follow the posts, but I hadn't seen anything about TyAnthony Smith after Sark talked about the flu bug, so I mentioned I heard Nahlin say openly today that it definitely wasn't the flu. Not because he's a more credible source or anything. I don't prefer IT over OTF in any way at all, I just quoted what I heard because no one here has said anything today. You need to chill. You didn't do anything wrong. I left IT because of this thin-skinned nonsense. All you did that upset the natives was drop a name and info from the competition, which happens on here all the time. Most of the time, it's to ridicule them, but nonetheless, it happens. I'm not sure why this time it was so egregious that it required the verbal whipping. The fact is,s it is very well possible someone else out there on the Internet might have info we may want to know as well. It makes for good discussion. 6 Quote

Skoal Brother Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Fuc the attitude natives here. Some folks need to get a life away from this board. Post whatever you want. Some people actually seek knowledge from several places, and put it all together, rather then read just one board. The smart asses are the ones who did not attend the university or they would understand how to read and listen. Imagine having an employee as such. Fired! 3 Quote
AusMOJO Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago To the point about the run game, Jeff. I'd just love to see us be credible with it in the red zone. Feel like that has cost us games the last 3 years alone. You go back to the RRS in '23. People like to give the D sh*t for not getting that stop at the end of the game (which is fair criticism) but I still remember us getting stuffed pretty easily at the goaline on what should've been a gimme score. With several chances to punch it in, The SEC conference title game or hell any Georgia game in general seems like it's had similar issues. The 2024 Ohio State game is another one. Right at the goal line to tie the game and instead we had no answer or push to get in the end zone. Instead fumbling it away for a TD. 2025 was more of the same. Ohio State game you had several chances to punch it in and the O couldn't get it done. yes this is in part because Ohio State had great players there but to have that many shots at it and not be able to punch it in, is not a good look. Sorry for the rant but Sark always preaches physicality and complimentary football but we've yet to see that consistently, especially from the offensive side. I hope he can finally figure that out. 3 Quote
Liam S Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago @Jeff HoweDo you expect to see more consistent playing time for big playmakers like Arch, Wingo, Cam, Collin, etc., in the next scrimmage? From what I heard from Sark, it sounded like just when these guys started to find a rhythm, they were pulled, so it is difficult to get an accurate assessment. Whereas, if these playmakers are left in for a while, they can find a rhythm and really start to light it up. Quote
Shivam Patel Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago (edited) 15 hours ago, CJ Vogel said: The Littleton pick sounds like someone who has seen the formation and play call every day in fall camp. @CJ VogelArch has to take care of the ball better and not throw that pass if Littleton is reading the play! I’m not worried he’ll play much better in the next scrimmage with the different format. Edited 8 hours ago by Shivam Patel Quote
Thorn007 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago HUGE determination of success will be PENALTIES. asked coach AI why did the Longhorns football team have so many penalties year after year? The Texas Longhorns' recurring penalty problem is primarily driven by systemic pre-snap issues on the offensive line, aggressive over-extension on defense, and a compounding lack of team discipline under head coach Steve Sarkisian. While the Longhorns have consistently field highly talented, playoff-caliber rosters under Sarkisian, their discipline metrics have progressively worsened, culminating in a disastrous 2025 campaign where they finished 135th out of 136 FBS teams by averaging 8.3 accepted penalties per game. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] Chronological Trend of the Penalty Crisis Rather than resolving structural mistakes as players grew older, the penalty issue steadily degraded over several seasons: [1, 2, 3] 2021–2022: The Longhorns were relatively disciplined, ranking 58th and 68th nationally in penalties per game. [1] 2023–2024: As Texas transitioned into a national powerhouse, flags began to mount. They plummeted to 99th (2023) and 94th (2024) in penalties per game, averaging 52 penalty yards against them. [1, 2] 2025: The issue became completely unmanageable. Texas committed 108 enforced penalties for 906 lost yards, dropping to the very bottom of college football in team discipline. [, 2, 3] Core Reasons Behind the Yearly Penalty Woes 1. Severe Offensive Line Instability and Technique Errors [1] The single largest culprit has been the offensive line, coached by Kyle Flood. In 2025 alone, 43 of the team's 62 offensive penalties were called on the offensive line. [, 2] Pre-Snap Jumps: Procedural miscues like false starts plagued the unit, heavily influenced by rotating personnel and a lack of game-speed cohesion. [1, 2, 3, 4] Repeated High-Volume Offenders: Certain individual players consistently drew yellow laundry. For example, tackle Brandon Baker accounted for 12 fouls and guard DJ Campbell committed 10 in a single season. [1, 2] 2. Overaggressive Defensive Over-Extension [1, 2] On the other side of the ball, young, highly touted defenders frequently crossed the line between physical play and reckless play. Coach Sarkisian noted that star players frequently got "jumpy" or tried to do too much rather than trusting the system. This resulted in an abundance of costly pre-snap offsides and major post-snap infractions like roughing the passer or personal fouls. Edge rusher Colin Simmons, for instance, led the team in flags due to over-aggression. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] 3. Special Teams Blunders Special teams units underachieved in fundamental positioning, frequently wiping away game-changing plays. Avoidable infractions like blocks in the back and holding calls on kickoff and punt returns routinely backed up the offense, forcing quarterback Arch Manning and the rest of the unit into difficult 1st-and-20 scenarios. [, 2] 4. Offseason and Practice Standards Analysts and local media have pointed directly to a deficit in internal accountability and self-discipline fostered during the offseason. Because the high-octane offense was talented enough to overcome penalties against lesser opponents, minor errors went unchecked until they manifested as devastating, drive-killing mistakes in high-stakes losses against disciplined teams like Ohio State and Florida. [1, 2, 3, 4] Sarkisian's 2026 Strategy Shift Entering the 2026 season, Sarkisian has publicly overhauled how the team handles mistakes. The program implemented severe collective punishments in practice—meaning if a single player jumps offsides or holds, the entire unit faces immediate physical conditioning. Additionally, the coaching staff utilized the transfer portal to bring in mistake-free veteran depth, such as guard Dylan Sikorski, specifically to anchor down the penalization crisis.
