Sugabread Posted 58 minutes ago Posted 58 minutes ago Just pull the plug. All you are doing is putting more pressure on Arch and he is showing he isn't dealing good woth pressure. Worse for Arch if he starts and gets pulled. Just do it. It will be better for Arch if you want him to succeed. Although it will be somewhere else. 2 Quote
Bwells Posted 57 minutes ago Posted 57 minutes ago (edited) Perhaps this is a question for Bobby CJ or Jerry. When you have a quarterback, that’s obviously as talented as arch and they’re not seeing the field and they’re hanging on the ball too long. How is that coached? Because he is obviously not progressing and they surely know that’s one of the issues. That’s the head scratcher. With arch’s lineage, Sark and his uncles you think there would be a lot of coaching going on and some level of progression, but we obviously don’t see it.. Edited 56 minutes ago by Bwells Quote

If so, then you have to say that Arch just lost to 2 unranked teams with a loss to an unranked team last year. If that is true, losing to unranked teams is far more damaging than beating the top 10 teams - we missed the playoffs last year with a loss to unranked Florida although we rolled at the end of the season beating those ranked teams. Personally, I don't give Arch credit for winning those top 10 games. You win as a Team and you lose as a Team. He also lost to 2 unranked teams, yes. the quarterbacks job is to run the offense well enough to win football games. He’s done that 4 times against top 10 teams. He also hasn’t done that well enough against 3 unranked teams. If it’s me, I’m at least starting with the experience for Ole Miss. If things go haywire then you pivot. I think that’s exactly what Sark will do. Edited 50 minutes ago by TexasOnTop 1 Quote

Yes, this is the real Pete Thamel account Unfortunately, CJ, this means nothing. Unless Sark names KJ the starter and gives him a chance to lead from the beginning, all you are doing is putting undue pressure on an already head-case QB. Is Sark's brilliant plan to start Arch, let us get behind by multiple scores and then bring KJ in when Ole Miss knows we are going to be passing? I have serious doubts about Sark's long-term tenure at Texas as it is. If he pulls this nonsense, I'll know for sure he is clueless and on his way out the door. 2 Quote

He will be pushed out after this year and I could see some NFL GM taking him late just for the name and attention. It’s possible he’ll be QE2.0 but might be a better situation for him because maybe he can go to a team that doesn’t suck balls and can undo all the Sark guru stuff he picked up here… Quote

Texas utilized quick screens, pop passes and play calls where deeper level thinking was not required. As a result, Texas had 10 points and 135 yards on the first two drives. Felt like the offense and Sark went away from that when the script ran up. They returned to it in the 2nd half on a 14-yard gain to Wingo and a 10-yard gain to Wingo. But then it was too late and Florida had taken the lead. Quote

Moderators Hank South Posted 45 minutes ago Moderators Posted 45 minutes ago Sark was asked about KJ during SEC Media Days (by Gerry) "I think he'd be a dangerous guy if he got in the game because of his off-schedule stuff that he can do, but also his ability just to throw the ball in rhythm and in timing." 4 Quote

At half time, if the team is up, he's going to start the 2nd half. If Texas is losing going into half, KJ might get a chance to start 2nd half. If the team implodes again in the 3rd quarter, KJ might get a chance to come in. I think that is logical and certainly pragmatic, which is anything but.......for Sark this year. Question though: Do you think Sark would actually do that against Ole Miss and with the entire Manning Family present because of The Ole Miss game? There are some who claim that there is a so called "deal or or at minimum a gentlemens agreement" for Arch's development. I'm not saying there was - don't put those words in my mouth - , but I am asking a question of: "Can Sark bench or pull Arch in this situation of Ole Miss and the connections in this game??? Quote

Almost every play to the perimeter was positive yards. How can you be an oc genius and go away from what worked. That’s malpractice 1 Quote

HookemChappy Posted 39 minutes ago Posted 39 minutes ago Honestly we don’t need KJ to win games for us. We mostly need him not to lose games. He doesn’t need to be a hero, just use a check down and make the simple plays. It’s ok to have a 3 and out, just don’t have consecutive 3 and outs. Be a game manager. 3 Quote

Arch will start because of the Manning family narratives vs Ole Miss If he plays poorly and we get down big early, they'll throw KJ out there and hope he can provide a spark. If we're winning at all or it's still a close game, Sark won't replace Arch. No matter how poorly he's actually playing. That's the template for how we've lost the last 2 games. 31 minutes ago, HookemTexas said: Most likely scenario that I see is that Arch will start the game. If you’re going to give KJ a shot, don’t throw him in a quagmire. Get him in for a scripted series early, even if not starting. Commit to it and communicate it internally in advance so you don’t further rattle the team. Quote

Texas beats OU without the two disastrous picks. Those are on Arch. Texas probably beats Florida without turning the ball over on downs, that's on Sark. Quote
Kyle Miller Posted 26 minutes ago Posted 26 minutes ago Lacey needs to start on Saturday. If there isn't a marked improvement by half, that could give Arch a boost of confidence because he'll see it's not all on him, and he can put on the cape and be the hero. I don't think Texas fans will get the sample we all want to see if you let Arch start and then bench him midway through the game, because that's asking a lot of Lacey. If Sark starts Arch and Texas drops a 3rd game in a row and 2nd at home, I think the only way Sark keeps his job is if he agrees to hire an OC (Chip Kelley???) but that might not even be enough. Quote
JR Smith Posted 22 minutes ago Posted 22 minutes ago Sark will start Arch against Ole Miss and he will play well with the script. After the script is where he'll fall apart. Will Echols will kill Connor Robertson and Brandon Baker and we'll be missing our best player on the team so we'll see if the pass rush will ever get home against the uber talented Chambliss. Quote

4thandFive Posted 20 minutes ago Posted 20 minutes ago Either start Lacey or go down with Arch. Throwing Lacey in only after Arch potentially stumbles and we get behind is a) unfair to Lacey and b) unfair to the team/fans. Quote

He's Garrett Gilbert 2.0 (I'm sure I'll get trashed for saying it but ..... ). Garrett Gilbert once threw for 344 yards in a game against a P5 opponent. Arch has yet to have a 300 yard game against a P4 opponent. I realize Arch has a much better overall record than GG, more wins against Top 25 and Top10 teams, but still, that's a surprising stat to me. 1 Quote

Sark better be ready with a play sheet for KJ tho. To do otherwise would be negligent. Quote
syracusehorn Posted 10 minutes ago Posted 10 minutes ago Sark has no ability to adjust in-game. He's really bad at it. If he's smart he'll script KJ a bunch of plays to have that as an "adjustment" during the game. Maybe he can dual-script something to keep us from getting completely shut down. Quote
