Not an easy last two weeks. So I wanted to pose the question for some optimism.

Going into the game vs. Ole Miss this weekend, what area of the game do you have the most belief in?

What's the most likely outcome to victory?

OR, if Texas wins this football game, it is because ____ happens?

***

A couple or bright spots recently.

– Texas has scored first in each game this year outside of the Ohio State contest.

– The Longhorns have touchdowns on three of its last four opening possessions.

– The defense has allowed just 3 points in first quarters vs. SEC teams.

– Longhorns defense has allowed 21 points just one time this season.

– Texas defense is 9th in the country in points per drive allowed, at 1.34.

– The Texas defense has allowed the fewest 20+ yard plays in the entire country (12, tied with Notre Dame).

Going to be interesting in the time of possession/defensive energy department.

Ole Miss is 8th in the country in seconds per snap offensively at 23.5 seconds. They go quick. The tempo really catches up to teams as well.

Texas is 46th in the country at 25.6.

Quick offensive drives that don't result in points from Texas could really hamper the defense on Saturday. Aka, no three-and-outs.

I’m optimistic that because it’s desperation time, we’ll see an uptick in snaps from Bishop/Cooper. And that the law of averages comes into play and the defense finally causes some turnovers.

I have to think the defense eventually creates a turnover.

It's a bummer the last person to create a turnover chance is now expected to be sidelined (Simmons).

This is the optimism tread CJ! Biles has knack for creating them. Give us more hopium!

Not optimistic because of sarks stubbornness but I'm hoping Derrek Coopers name wasn't in invisible ink on the injury report like he was last week.

Last time we saw him he looked like Texas best running back vs Oklahoma.

Sark replaces Center and QB and runs the ball with Cooper.

I am almost guaranteeing more Cooper on Saturday.

0.0%  just like Blutarsky's gpa in Animal House.

When I see video of Arch simply not looking,  seeing open receivers and the OL with lookout blocks, I have ZERO confidence this ship is righted this year.   Not with Flood, not with Arch.

Uh idk, I’m just hoping we’re not as bad as we look and we get over whatever type of yips this team has. Hoping that Sark can break his team and offense out of slump and prove that he is still one of the best coaches in CFB

Texas starts first on offense (regardless of who wins the toss).  Texas scores.

Texas stalls and Ole Miss puts up around 20 in the first half.  Get's over-confident.

Texas switches QBs to start the second half and the offense starts to move.  3Q is a bit of a shootout, but Texas inches closer.

The crowd is back in it and Texas makes a comeback in the 4th Q.

Whoever has the ball last scores to win the game.

If all this plays out this way, I think it's Texas winning.

I hate to sound shallow and negative but if Arch rolls out there on the first series I don't expect to see anything different than the last 4 games, what realistically is going to change? I keep hearing the "backs against the wall" theory but you're telling me our backs weren't against the wall at 11AM in DKR last Saturday? The Florida game was Arch Manning's 21st start and a "must have" game at home against an inferior team and he couldn't handle it. I don't have any faith in him going forward.

I am also not going to lie to myself and expect KJ to come in and light the world on fire. However, I would like to start him and see if he can distribute the ball to playmakers and move the offense down the field.

As far as the injury to Simmons I am much less worried about the EDGE position than I am the current state of our QB and run game.
