HookedOnTF Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Yes Sark and Arch could do their part to discourage DCs from a full frontal assault, but this sure is crazy to see: 3 1 Quote
jbseamus83 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Geez. There's just no getting around how bad that is. Sad stuff. 1 Quote
HookedOnTF Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago Three out on a limb thoughts: 1) Is our DL too good for our OL's development? Even the DL twos are good enough that I wonder if they've broken the OL's confidence. Instead of developing, are the linemen spending every practice correcting mistakes? Iron sharpens aluminum? 2) Is the OL coach really the answer? Every time we've hired a "top 5 OL coach" since 2010, the result has been the same. Bill Bedenbaugh didn't forget how to coach either, and Oklahoma's line is struggling too. A big name college coach has to align with Sark, and an NFL OL coach might help with scheme and technique, but maybe not with developing 18-year-olds. So is it really as simple as firing Flood and throwing money at the next home-run hire with skins on the wall? 3) Is it strength? Becton has the team fast and well conditioned. The DL anchors well but doesn't really penetrate (bonus pts for big man tuddys), and the OL looks weak. A few years ago I think we brought Dana LeDuc back to work on strength. Is he still around? Is strength training part of the OL's struggle, or do they just not know what to do in live fire? Quote
Aspann85 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago We all know it but that doesn’t make it easier to look at on a spreadsheet. This needs to be papered all over the locker rooms, practice field, weight room, etc as a challenge to the OLine. It’s just simple pride that should be taking a hit…I couldn’t look at my teammates if this was me. I quit my sport because my heart wasn’t in it anymore and I wasn’t helping the team. 1 Quote
HookedOnTF Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago Btw, I included Oregon and Oklahoma specifically because they both fired their OCs... 1 Quote

Darrell Mynar Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Easy to see. Replace Flood with a true OC & turn over play caller to him (Chip Kelly) and hire the Will Muschamp of Oline coaches to run the oline. Call me crazy but whoever does strength & conditioning of oline needs replacing as well because our oline is worse now than any in last 25yrs. Quote

The summer he's in Seattle. 1 Quote

Yeah the underlying data is not opponent adjusted so I added some small weighting factors, but directionally it makes even more sense when you look at our offense vs the supposedly weaker defenses. HookedOnTF Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago (edited) Almost screams effort, no? + how much the opponent watched film, and add in Goosby injury. Edited 1 hour ago by HookedOnTF Quote

NothinButDaHorns34 Posted 56 minutes ago Posted 56 minutes ago Jesus! Just when i think my opinion on how bad our offensive line play is can’t get any worse i see sh*t like this. Who from the miami staff can we hire to be our offensive line coach? Cristobal seems to be an offensive lineman guru. 1 Quote

Those moves make me wonder how CDC handles the role (or lack thereof) after the season. I’d assume if Texas misses the CFP then Sark will be forced to hire someone which may not go over well. Quote
Steamboat Willie Posted 45 minutes ago Posted 45 minutes ago If Flood goes, here’s who I’d look at: Bob Bostad, Indiana Joe Rudolph, Notre Dame Eman Naghavi, Houston Tim Keane, Boise Nic Cardwell, Cincinnati Jordan Shoemaker, Texas State Sam Pittman, if he wants to coach again Dwayne Ledford, Ravens Andy Kwon, Memphis Zach Hanson, USC Bostad would be my first call. Houston’s Naghavi is one I probably overlooked. Keane at Boise deserves a look too. No idea who would take it or who Sark would want. But looking at those numbers, I’m tired of hearing we just need bigger linemen or another recruiting class. We ought to be able to block Mississippi State. 1 Quote
Hookem72 Posted 40 minutes ago Posted 40 minutes ago This is even worse considering Miss State’s best dlineman was a transfer who couldnt get playing time with us. (Bledsoe) 1 Quote

Is strength training part of the OL's struggle, or do they just not know what to do in live fire? Seems like at the NFL Combine we do well at the speed tests, but I think I remember on a strength test (like say bench press reps at 220 lbs) we performed relatively poorly. This is just anecdotal (I remember a couple of eye popping low bench numbers) - does anyone have any real data to back this up, or disprove it? Quote
tsip92 Posted 11 minutes ago Posted 11 minutes ago And this is why the chances of winning out are negligible. Quote
HookemFromOkc Posted 8 minutes ago Posted 8 minutes ago Sark is dumb for not firing Flood after last season. Literally the worst O line in the country. Boise has a better line. Pathetic. Quote
