Ewers Still Hurt

Recommended Posts

Go back and watch the Michigan game. Quinn was scrambling all over the field zipping touchdowns off-balance on frozen ropes. His diminished overall performance and loss of mobility since the oblique strain MUST be due to factors other than “mental” or the dreaded “three-high safety look.“ They are sitting on something… Sort of like we all found out at the start of last season that Xavier Worthy had a broken hand the second half of the season two years ago. Perhaps even a different undisclosed injury? Totally different player compared to early in the season.

The 4th and 2 run wouldn’t be a thing with a still injured quinn IMO. Not only did he lower his pads to take on a 6’4 230lb safety but hopped up after to celebrate.

Excellent point. Even so, Quinn was downright rangy at Ann Arbor but has seemed a timid sack of bricks by comparison since his return from injury.🤘🤘

I saw a post on twitter today from cj where he quoted Quinn saying he still feels the strain from time to time

23-7. 1 conference championship 1 playoff appearance

When committed, would yall have been happy with that from then until now?   With the chance of 2 conference championships & 2 playoff appearances? 2-1 in the red river game?

I think it's more mental than physical. As previously stated by another member, you don't run Quinn on 4th down if he is already injured

I was surprised to hear Quinn say that on Saturday. I was told it wasn't an issue, but obviously, I don't know what he actually feels.

Sure didn't look to be an issue against Florida.

It is the same BS that Mack and Colt would put out after every bad game Colt had in 2009. You can't go from your best performance of the season to your 2nd or 3rd worst in a week and blame it on a 2 month old injury. Either stop making excuses for your poor play or sit down until you are 100% healthy.

Oh, new to Texas Football?

Unhappy with any commitment that doesn’t yield 30-0. We’re Texas…

there is hurt and there is injured. Athletes understand this. Almost everyone is hurt throughout the season. It's a physical games, bumps and bruises and strains are commonplace.  Quinn no doubt could still hurt, but he is not injured.

Either way it is affecting how he plays the game and approaches the game of football.

The standard is the standard... Unrealistic and absolute perfection!

That’s not necessarily true. I’m not agreeing that he’s still injured, but if he was the fourth and two run wouldn’t exacerbate his injury like a throwing motion does. If his oblique injury is not 100% healed, then the rotational component and the torque that the throwing motion requires would be much more difficult than lowering your head and pushing forward with your legs.

With all due respect CJ, I disagree about Florida. Even though he had a much better game vs the Gators, I would say he was still struggling with the mechanics of his throwing motion. His stats looked much better because Sark’s scheming and play calling was on point. But if you look back at even some of his TD throws, he’s not rotating his trunk aggressively with a solid base. It seems he’s compensating the necessary trunk rotation you would see with good mechanics (solid base with both feet planted firmly and shoulders square). We’ve seen this all too much with his back foot throws, fading back, open base with feet not aligned to his target. All these things decrease the amount of torque and therefore the strain applied to the affected muscle.
