Agree he hurt us but I lay this blame on poor offensive execution really much of the last few games. Penalties, turn overs, drops etc. No way we should lose when Georgia scores 16 points. We need to play clean ball.

I think we all considered the possibility of Burt’s kicking costing us a game this year. Not that the rest of the team just covered itself in glory all night.

I do wonder if Will Stone just falls down in practice every time he attempts a FG. Perhaps we should open up competition for the next two weeks. Burt’s not the only reason we lost tonight, but his impact relative to his snaps is impossible to ignore.

Definitely not a strength. He had a good stretch last season that probably made people’s expectations too high.

Special teams overall were a disappointment this year. I think we attempted to block 2 punts so far?  No pressure on the punter and then no blocking for the returner…wtf?

I think we undervalued just how incredible our gunners were last year.

Special Teams overall has been pretty terrible this year. Field goals, punts, kick return, punt return all net negative from a team perspective. Banks needs to figure this out to earn his +$1MM salary.

You can't go into the playoff with Bert Auburn as your kicker. He's less than 50% at forty yards. You just can't tolerate it. There are multiple guys available that can make a forty yard field goal. Replace Auburn and let them.

I think we all underestimated the value of Joe Decamlis, too. Special teams were right last year. Issues were immediately corrected. Not this year.

This year, the extra coach has really helped the nickels. We need to get an extra ST coach next year, IMO.

BTW - I’m sure no one is more disappointed with letting the team down than Bert himself. Just remember that.

I'm sure that's true. While this isn't the NFL, guys are getting paid and we're talking about a possible national championship. Plenty of other CFB teams have replaced their kicker for similar reasons, just look at Arizona State.

Sure. But you can’t go to the portal and get a kicker.

You don't have to go to the portal to add a kicker.

Why don’t we? It’s the easiest way to upgrade that position with experience

A guy who played for a team in the '24 season is ineligible to play for another team during the same season.
