This isn’t related to Texas football but did anyone see ESPN’s report on Randy Moss being diagnosed with cancer?

I think we can all agree that we’re hoping for the best with Randy Moss & his health. He is, after all, a football legend & royalty.

Why then, would ESPN refer to him as “ESPN analyst Moss” as opposed to any number of titles you could use to describe him. Maybe nobody else cares but it just seemed very disrespectful to someone who should garner just a bit more imo.

The first NFL game i ever went to I saw Eddie George at New England with Drew bledsoe live. I went home and that day rookie Randy moss had 3 touchdowns against Tampa Bay.

The commentary by these big networks is horrendous. If Stephen a Smith is getting 120 million, Gerry Hamilton is gonna demand Juan Soto type money.

I pray Randy gets well soon and I'm certainly praying for him every day.

Cancer sucks. My dad has stage 4 pancreatic cancer and doesn't have long to live. You basically watch them become something you barely recognize. It's painful stuff. Wish all the best to Randy Moss and his family. It takes a toll on everyone involved.

As for ESPN, I mean why do they do anything? Seems a bit weird to call him that, but I mean that is technically his job now, so I don't think it's that big of a deal. Though I can see your point about it.

I think it’s espn trying to claim Randy, and I think you’re absolutely right it is disrespectful. It’s Hall of Famer and one of the greatest receivers of all time MR. Randy Moss. Love Randy as a player and more as a person and his story is one of perseverance in the face of bigotry and ignorance. Prayer he’ll beat liver cancer as bad as he beat the cowboys for doing him dirty!! Straight Cash Homie!!

Serious type of cancer which sounds like it was either bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma) or pancreatic cancer. Had a stent placed with biopsy to make the diagnosis first and provide internal drainage, then had a Whipple surgery to remove the tumor and reroute the area. The fact that he was even a candidate to have that surgery means they may have caught it early but still very serious situation.

It’s so fast. Lost my mil in 9 months. She was amazing in how she stayed positive for the most part while understanding the reality. It doesn’t get the money for research it needs.  You’re right about the physical impact.

Really sorry to hear about your dad in stage 4. 🧡🙏🏽

Prayers for your family and your dad. I work in cancer treatment research and pancreatic cancer is one we need a breakthrough the most because of how aggressive it can be.

a human has cancer.   titles and accolades don’t mean anything at that point.   you have to slant the angle pretty hard and be trying to make this disrespectful.

I think anyone associated with it are trying to be supportive of Moss, however they can. Those reporters are people, too. While a few may look for an angle on every story, most do not. I don’t think this is a case of that.

I agree completely Bobby & I must comment on a different topic. Your interview with Josh Pate was extremely informative. Has to rank as one of the best college sports interviews I’ve seen on podcasts. Congratulations.

You're wrong to feel that way.

Good thoughts Bobby & your opinion rings louder than any of us in this sports journalism space. No direct shade at anyone, I was just caught off guard by Randy Moss being referred to as ESPN analyst & wanted to here others opinions!

Thanks mate and I agree. My sister and I had to fight him to even go check when he had rapid weight loss and wasn't eating anything. Unfortunately by the time we could get him to, it had spread everywhere. Tried some chemo but it just made him even worse.

Not sure what this would be in pounds, but he's just above or just under 40kgs now, as a 67 year old.

Oh man! I’m so sorry to hear and that your family is going through that. Yeah 40kg is approx 88 lbs. it’s horrible how quickly it progresses and how rapid the changes are in folks with advanced pancreatic cancer. Sending all the love and support to you and your family!
