It's sad. Unfortunately, Chace Calicut isn't the first football recruit to jeopardize their otherwise bright future, and he won't be the last.

With great power comes great responsibility.

If anybody is curious who the guy on the right making the shooting gesture is- that’s UGA’s Safeties coach.

His recruiting pitch to the Best in Texas must have included promises to be his personal passenger seat gunman at the next level.

Kirby’s got that Urban Meyer culture going in Athens.

But Calicutt was recruited by Georgia to play CB???

Not sure he’s “the best in Texas”, but definitely glad he’s leaving Texas.

He’ll be right at home in Athens, GA. Kirby should try soliciting bail bondsmen to contribute to UGA NIL. Would be a good investment for the bondsmen.

Would you send the link to the pod? Or was it just one of the OTF YT shows?

I believe if I’m not mistaken he had mentioned a player committed elsewhere that found themselves in some serious trouble but out of respect for everything wouldn’t say the name as it would come out.

Let’s not act like our staff decided not to take him due to character issues. Cmon now. He very well could have been on our list of commitments when this happened.

Hope the young man figures it out.

He spending 20+ years in jail over being mad at another teenager????? College Education was free. IMO this is not something to make fun of Georgia on. As a mentor, teacher, coach, minister, Unc, etc; this saddens me when someone young makes far reaching decisions. This not a video game.

They had baseball sleeves with that on it a couple of years ago at the College World Series.  I have a picture somewhere.

I mean, it’s not even great power great responsibility - like there are dumb mistakes, but then there is crap like this. This feels like one of the easiest things NOT TO DO.

Just yesterday I read about a young man from Edna Karr HS in New Orleans who signed with Ole Miss and was entering his Freshman season.

Sadly he was shot and killed in an incident involving other young people in suburban Memphis - Shelby County TN. Details were sketchy but it seemed as though he was with some people he should not have been with. People who, unlike him, didn't have college football scholarships and  potentially bright futures.

He was a two-time All State DL for Karr HS.
