Bevo92 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago https://apple.news/Azsq1HKHERIuTZuIfL9_Low Seen lots of speculation over past 48 hours. Is there any meat on this bone? Next couple weeks could be telling? If it’s at all suspicious, OU may suspend to avoid retroactive penalties against the team later. if OU doesn’t have Mateer this season due to his own stupidity, BV may as well get his home on the market cuz OU will be on their way to 3 out of season’s below .500. 2 Quote
ArizonaLonghorn Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Odds he plays this year for OU? 101% ... 5 3 Quote
LonghornFan4Ever Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I don't think he will be suspended for any games after Kent State, if he ends up being suspended at all. If it is proven he was indeed gambling almost three years ago on games and then lied about that in the statement his PR team put out yesterday, he should be suspended for lying about it imo. But he won't miss the back half of the schedule that determines BV's (and the OU football program's) fate. If OU takes action themselves, they think MHJ is good enough with BV's defense to win them at least one of the Michigan and/or Auburn games. They could think suspend him for now and bring him back for Dallas with no film of him playing in actual games at OU. Quote

I remember a few years ago, probably Jimbo era, when an Aggie done something wrong and was suspended for the first game of the season, against a real cupcake. Then a hurricane rolled into Texas and the game was rescheduled for later in the season. Second game was against a much better team - Aggies lifted the suspension for THAT game and said he'd serve the suspension later against the cupcake. I think you are probably right LOL Quote
NothinButDaHorns34 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) blOwU has no morales, Brent is coaching for his job and will do anything to win so i say the chances of him being suspended are slim to none. Edited 2 hours ago by NothinButDaHorns34 1 Quote
VaHorn Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I would put the odds at greater than 80%. Of course, if OU takes the LSU approach of “let the team decide” then the odds drop below 50%. Quote
Moderators Blake Munroe Posted 2 hours ago Moderators Posted 2 hours ago I guess I’m in the minority on this, but I don’t think anything happens, nor do I feel like it’s anything big. If It was a game he played in, that would be completely different. Yes, I know the NCAA rules, but I just think that this stuff happens all the time… most aren’t dumb enough to leave an obvious trail, however. 2 1 Quote

When athletes gamble then organized crime infiltrates the sport. The Integrity of college football is at stake. Pete Rose should never be in the Baseball Hall of Fame and Mateer should get punished to the fullest extent of the rules if he indeed did gamble on college football while he was playing. 2 Quote
CHorn427 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago This is textbook CYA- the university announces a thorough investigation and “self-sanctions” if it comes to that, to nip it in the bud and head off an NCAA investigation. If there was evidence that he placed CFB bets on an actual betting site (legal or otherwise), that would be much more serious. Quote

tsip92 Posted 40 minutes ago Posted 40 minutes ago Suspended for the kickoff of their first game. BV better start looking for another gunner. Quote

HookemHorns Posted 23 minutes ago Posted 23 minutes ago He will play. He will be good until he gets beat up. Texas beats OU with or without Mateer Quote

HookemHorns Posted 18 minutes ago Posted 18 minutes ago Mateer is a good player. I’m a Boise State fan so I watched him some as Washington St played BSU. BSU had a good D, but they let Mateer throw for 350+. However he ran 20 times for just 28 yards. I think Texas will make him beat them with his arm in the same way, but I don’t think he will enjoy nearly the success. Plus WSU had a better receiver than anything OU will trot out this year, Kyle Williams Quote
Texas fan in Georgia Posted 13 minutes ago Posted 13 minutes ago He won’t be suspended… but he will definitely throw multiple picks against Texas. Not the brightest crayon in the box. Quote
