7-0 vs Ohio State in Columbus through 3 quarters isn’t the same thing that happened in Ames in 2015. Also, football is a 4 quarter game, so the “through 3 quarters” stuff is bs. Arch had 170 through 4 quarters. That 4th quarter wasn’t garbage time. A key mantra in football is the 4th quarter is the most important quarter. Let’s not forget that when trying to make a guy’s stats look worse than they wound up being at the final.

You’re being overly doom and gloom about losing a one possession game on the road while outgaining your proposed #1 team in the country by over 100 yds.

The partial game stats comparison needs context. As Gerry himself pointed out, Patricia didn't "decide" to let Texas run all over them in the third quarter. Day didn't want to let Texas have a chance to tie the game late.

Arch Manning will correct the issues he was having with easy completions. He is a better QB than the Carr guy. Texas also probably has the best defense in the country. Wisner looks like he will run for 1000 yds again this season and looks like we can get 500+ at least from Baxter. I could see both of them going for 1000+, honestly

The partial game stats just need to stop. I can see discounting 4th quarter stats if the 4th quarter wasn’t garbage time. It wasn’t. Ask Ohio State fans if they felt comfortable with Texas on the 50 with 2 minutes left. I wouldn’t have been.

Honestly, I think I would rather have a guy in Arch’s position start slow and get stronger as the game went on, which is what happened. That tells me it was nerves and the guy is a gamer at heart. Starting fast and then fading is more alarming.

I’m putting a lot of stock in Miami- Cristobal is an OL guy and their OL looks good, good WRs that can catch the ball, good defense, Beck looks back to 2023 form now that his receivers don’t have alligator arms. As long as they never have to kneel the ball this year they should be good.

What I think the actual rankings will be:

OSU

PSU

UGA

LSU

Miami

Notre Dame

Texas

Oregon (might be ahead of Texas)

South Carolina

Clemson

I can't see ND ahead of Texas. There's a big difference between OSU and Miami. Miami's defense isn't a high level defense.

Ohio State

Penn State

Georgia

LSU

Texas

Miami

Oregon

Clemson

Notre Dame

Arizona State

Watched Gerry's boy Leavitt. He didn't exactly look like a world beater to me.

I feel in a way this loss is best case for Arch considering he was the let down. The boys played well around him. I think it lights a fire and alleviates the pressure to a degree. It elevates it to win but lessens it for a Heisman.  Let him take live reps and grow so his next big game he's ready. I thought he would have been ready entering year three but sometimes you're too ready. You want it too much and you press to show who and what you are so quickly you lose sight and track of what actually makes you an asset. That's life experience, growth etc. He settled in a bit and that deep layered throw to Endries was like Peyton.

I was pissed and frustrated watching the game but with Gods grace a night of sleep allowed me to see the big picture. This is a damn well rounded football team and Arch is his own worst critic, he will be a big time player for this University.
