chennups Posted Saturday at 02:05 PM Posted Saturday at 02:05 PM How does this relate to the standings shown during the softball games of men’s and women’s programs. Texas only shows up on the women’s but not near the top. how does that translate to being #1 overall? Quote

Capital One Cup has a scoring structure which separates men and women, and splits values into popular high-profile sports (Group B) and lower-profile sports (Group A) but it still seems pretty arbitrary (lacrosse and gymnastics are high-profile, swimming, golf, tennis are low-profile). The weight given to national champions over 2nd place is pretty severe. I think it's a load of crap, but whatever. Texas women should move way up after taking softball. https://ecm.capitalone.com/WCM/capital-one-cup/capital-one-cup-scoring-structure-2020-2021.pdf 1 1 Quote

So, Men's hoops gets no credit for their sweet 16 run. Football, nadda for being ranked 13th etc. The weighting of certain sports and the complete drop off in credit after 10th place can really bias things. Quote
DirectorsCupUpdates Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago It has become increasingly likely that Texas wins its 5th Directors' Cup. Almost unfathomable that we don't win it all. Stanford needs an near miracle to add any points at all and even if they win 4 out of 4 events they are entered in, Texas wins the cup with a measly 34th place finish in Track and Field. That would require about 10 points in the track meet. If Stanford doesn't add points in Track then we just need one of our teams to score 19 Directors Cup points, which is a 55th place finish and usually only requires 5 points scored in the track meet. And that is all assuming baseball doesn't add any more points. We will know track results prior to baseball results. This could be wrapped up on Friday after Men's Track goes final. 6 Quote
