The running game was solid. I can see some things improving, but I'm still concerned about the short-yardage offense against some of the better defensive fronts Texas will face. I think Wisner will be a great addition when healthy, he adds a hard running style that we need. It was good to see other RB get much needed work heading into SEC schedule. 1 Quote

Kevin C Posted yesterday at 01:43 PM Posted yesterday at 01:43 PM Good stuff Jeff. Awesome way to finish non-conf play, going into the bye with lots of positive momentum. Excited for Arch and the receivers who looked much more in rhythm. Quote
CoachBobbyFinstock Posted yesterday at 02:13 PM Posted yesterday at 02:13 PM (edited) Still stunning to me we didn’t portal an Olineman or two. Honestly everything put a good taste in my mouth but that position and maybe Niblett in the return game. They are going to be greatly tested in the next two weeks by Fla and OU. Good thing Arch can run. Edited yesterday at 02:13 PM by CoachBobbyFinstock Quote
alrightalrightalright Posted yesterday at 05:13 PM Posted yesterday at 05:13 PM Great game to head into SEC play with under our belt. Quote

None of the Texas running backs do anything when they reach the second level. Simon can make people miss in the hole, but he doesn't have the abililty to plant his foot and break arm tackles then take it to the house. Actually, none of the running backs do. Justice Haynes would of have been huge portal pickup during the off-season, as he would have given Texas the homerun hitter it desperately needs at running back. 1 Quote

RS is going away. It will be 5 to play 5 moving forward. This was very much Owens get passed up. Quote

If they were to have gone to the portal for a RB I'd have preferred Ahmad Hardy Quote

It's still a thing right now. There has been no official call for that. If Owens got passed up so be it, I haven't said anything to the contrary, just repeating what the guys on the commentary team said during the game. Obviously parroting what Coach Sark himself said. Was this the kid at ULM? Because I remember he ran pretty hard against us and was a load. 1 Quote

Both T's get beat around the edges and even in the red zone RB's still getting hit in the back field against Sam Houston. It might be my only complaint still and it will be challenged a lot during SEC play. I don't really know what the issue is there. I understand inexperience but that doesn't seem like inexperience to me. Quote

It was a much-needed successful night for an offense that needed things to go right. This team still a ways away from being a finished product. From that standpoint, the bye week is huge. I think the best offensive line mix may be Robertson at center with Hutson moving back to left guard in place of Stroh. What I thought was important was how the team came out in the second half. Regardless of opponent, being able to continue through the halftime break and still be hot for the offense was crucial in that confidence boost. One day at a time, one practice at a time, one game at a time. Trust the process. Quote
