GoHorns1 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago After the season, we took time to reflect on this year, the future of Texas Soccer and where the program is headed. Following thoughtful discussion, we think it is in the best interest of The University of Texas to move in a new direction. Coach Kelly has led this program in a first-class manner and has poured tremendous energy and dedication into our student-athletes and staff over the past 14 seasons. We are grateful for all she has accomplished and for the professionalism, character and pride she has consistently demonstrated. We sincerely thank Coach Kelly for her service to Texas Soccer and to our University, and we wish her all the best in the future." Statement from Ange Kelly: "I am sincerely grateful to have had the privilege to lead the Texas Soccer Program for the past 14 seasons. I want to extend my deepest appreciation to our staff and all of the student-athletes that have represented the burnt orange. I will always cherish the relationships that have been made and will forever hold them close to my heart." 4 Quote
Bobby Burton Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Texas will hire a very successful replacement. That's all I'll say for now. 14 Quote

Been the HC at UCLA for 4 years winning the national championship in 2022. She the top assistant at Stanford the Cardinal won 2 national championships. Has also coached the U23 national team. 1 Quote

HookemTexas Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago CDC plays 4D chess when it comes to hiring new coaches. Coach Ange Kelly helped grow the game for Texas, but could never break through even when she was able to recruit some elite talent in recent years. She always supported the other programs though and led a classy program, even if they never won it all, saw the soccer team attend a volleyball match to support after they played their game earlier in the evening when my wife and I was at the match. Someone posted on the social media announcement that her program was the only one to have never at least make the elite 8 of their sport. With softball winning it all last year and WBB having made the final four and poised for a run the next few years, the pressure was on for the soccer program to keep up. If it's the UCLA coach, excited for what the future holds. UCLA probably either can't, or won't come close to what Texas is able to do on the NIL front to get the new coach great players. Hook'em coach Kelly. 1 Quote

Stuey22 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Was probably the most underachieving program at Texas. Change long overdue Quote
AusMOJO Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I'm not a big soccer fan, let alone women's soccer, but I had been following a long with a user on reddit that was posting about the games and it seemed like we were struggling big time this year. Wish the old coach all the best and hope we hire a good replacement. I see a lot of people talking about the UCLA HC? Can anyone give a brief overview of why that is a better hire than what we had? Has been a HC four years with 1 national championship in 2022, made the ncaa tournament all four years. Was the top assistant at Stanford when The Cardinal won 2-national championships. see @THookempost above. Quote
