    I find this whole discussion fascinating. My take is that I like a lot of what Campbell is after. But with certain conditions applied, including the idea that certain teams/schools or conferences are worth more to any consortium.

    1. Campbell may be many things, but he’s not a hack. His only goal may even well be getting Texas Tech on an even playing field with Texas. I can’t discern his true goals, etc. But I can decidedly tell you he’s not a hack. The conversation we had was informative. He knew numbers, reasons, etc., and it wasn’t the sound of a hack. 2. I too worry about Texas after Eltife. It’s the chief reason why I asked Governor Abbott about how he elects/chooses the BoR.

    Could be. I think there’s a deal to be had that is more inclusive. I don’t think the universities of the SEC and Big 10 want to be seen as the ones who kill college football for the rest of the country. You have to remember, even within the UT system there is UTSA, UTEP, SFA and now UTRGV that all play football.

    He’s not going to get the pooling done without the acquiescence of the SEC and Big 10. He just won’t get the votes. I’m guessing he knows that quite well. That means negotiation of future rev share must be on the table and I doubt the SEC or Big 10 would be willing to be shortchanged in that regard. In other words, all of what you said can be true, but there still may be a deal to be had that makes sense. No one’s motives should be altruistic here, not his, not Texas’, no one’s.

    Texas leadership is not asleep at the wheel. They are well aware of the fundamentals. The chair of the board of regents at Texas has a firm grasp on this IMO.

    Sorry to tell you this, but Tech is gonna have a seat at the table whether Texas fans want them to or think they should. After all, they’ve had a seat for 50+ years, they just haven’t done much with it. That’s reality. Tech isn’t going anywhere.
