Watched local Austin weather earlier today and said rain will be out of Austin well before kickoff.

That’s the Tech head of board of regents. The same guy that said they wouldn’t forget the Sorsby saga and would run it up on teams. I could see Arizona beating them this week as the Wildcats are putting up a lot of points and Tech doesn’t have anywhere near the DL/LB they had last year.

I get it a lot of people think coaches should be fired. Both onside kicks (one which was illegal vs Tenn) were right in the players (WR) hands. Players have to catch the ball. Coaches can put players in position, but the player has to make the play. Having said that, a lot of an onside kick is luck (how is ball spinning, bounce, etc). The punt run is inexcusable. if we are going to point out the bad and blame coaches what about the blocked fg? If Ole Miss makes that kick, it’s a whole different ball game over the last 3 minutes, as Ole Miss would only be down by 7 at that point.

If K. Taylor doesn't play MSU is a different offense. MSU gave up over 400 yards of offense to OU yesterday & around 200 years rushing. I hope we give Terry more carries going forward. Like having a bigger back against SEC defenses for rushing and pass protection.

That’s not the message. That’s the message you chose to take from it. A lot of truth in that message. I’ve been a season ticket holder since I graduated from UT in 91. Maybe missed 10 home games in 40 years. Went to Tenn game this year and the atmosphere is so much different than what I heard from DKR in the 1st half of the Florida game. The offense came out and scored in the 1st qtr and the crowd was still lame as hell when we were in defense the entire 1st half of the game. You can sit around and mope and be pissed iff or you can choose to try to help out the team.

Frustrating as we’ve caused fumbles and tipped some balls at the LOS but we haven’t been able to get to the ball.

Split reps 50/50 or some other ratio?

Agree. It was a close battle. Philo got the nod due to his experience in the offense at ga tech. Jones may be a better runner and he has a nice arm.

We’ll find out over the next few weeks as we play defenses that aren’t ranked as high. I think a lot of the challenge has been the defenses we’ve played. Ohio State and OU are top 10 defenses, while Tennessee is a top 25 defense. Very few teams have faced the quality of P4 defenses we have faced. We had 380 yards of offense very OU. What killed us vs OU was the 2-0 turnover margin and the blocked punt. OU had only given >300 yards against Georgia who barely hit 300 (with 303). Tennessee was really the worst game on offense due to the sacks and limited rb with Raleek Brown as the only healthy rb.

Yes that would help with scheduling of better non-conference games, but do you really want a playoff with the big, sec, ACC and big 12 champs? I think you generate a lot more interesting non-conf games with a wider playoff format. There is no perfect system at the end of the day. Personally I think a 16 team format would be best, but not a fan of a non-p4 school getting as they have no chance of winning it all. I agree with the poster who suggested we move to a selection criteria where SOS is factored in.

Better chance they do under 24 team format than current format. What format do you suggest to get teams to play a tougher schedule?

Not sure why everyone is bitching. If strength of schedule is not a factor and all the committee looks at is losses then 24 team setup is much better than current setup. It’s a joke that schools like Tx tech and byu, who would both finish in the bottom of the sec could both get in under the current format. Then there are the non-p4 schools that get in. ND, who has a roster to be in playoffs, only plays one legit top team all year so they are pretty much assured to get in. Indiana’s schedule isn’t much worse than ND. Both Ohio State and and USC are home games for Indiana.

I think you have to look at several factors. First the strength of p4 defenses you play greatly impacts your offense production. We’ve faced 3 -p4 defenses and all rank pretty high. Ohio state ranks in the top 5, OU ranks in the top 15 and Tenn is around top 25 (off the top of my head). Second, you have to look ant the quality of the non-p4 competition. Even if you look at our non P4 competition in UTSA and Tx St they are better teams than most of what the other P4 teams face. We had 380 yards vs a then top 10 OU defense. Georgia has a top 30ish ranked offense but most of those points came vs very weak non-conference opponents. Georgia has 303 yards against OU, while we had 380. It’s one data point but it illustrates how some of the teams weak schedules can really influence their team statistical rankings midway through the season. Top 10 defenses generally win out over top offenses. We held Ohio State (top 5 ranked offense) to around 300 yards of offense. Besides Texas, Ohio State’s offense has faced very weak defenses, other than maybe Iowa.

I agree at looking at opponent stats also, but to some degree the stats with 4 to 5 games in where some teams faced 2-3 non-power conf schools it makes it a big challenging to draw conclusions. I looked at their opposition rankings when I looked up their stats. Their offense has faced two rated defenses in Georgia (ranked 7) and Michigan (ranked 6). New Mexico is also a much better defense than they've historically been (ranked 14), and a much better program than they've historically been. We've faced 1 top ranked defense (Ohio St 17). Tenn is ranked 29th. We've faced better offenses teams than they have. They have NFL players all over their defense, but we have much better depth in our D-line, which could be a big factor in a game where the temp is expected to be in the 90's. We have much better players on offense based upon NFL projections, but we haven't executed very well on offense. I think when everything is said and one this comes down to what Bobby said earlier in the week - who wins the turnover and rushing battle.

A lot of overconfidence going into this game. In 4 games the most yards the OU defense has given up is 303 vs Georgia. The Georgia game score was distorted due to Mateer’s turnovers. 14 point swing when he fumbled the ball and Georgia ran 95 yards for TD and Mateer also gave Georgia a short field on another turnover. UT offense has been very inconsistent. It will be shocked if this isn’t a 17-10 or 20-13 type if game. Both defenses have shown to be very good. Statistically OU’s defense is ranked #5 in country which is better than UT defense. Both offenses have struggled with OU’s ranking worse than UT. I’ve watched every Texas/OU game since I was a student at UT in 87-91. I was their live for probably 30 of the games over the past 40 years. I’ve seen a lot of underdog wins in this series where very few gave the underdog a chance. This OU team and Brent V knows this is the chance to turn their season around. I doubt they are telling anyone they are not confident in their chance to win this game.

OU held Georgia to 12 first downs. They game got out of hand due to the OU turnovers including 1 where OU was close to scoring and their qb gave Georgia a gift td.

I believe he visited Tech for their game vs UH. There strategy is to come hard with NIL early as most schools don’t get series about NiL until later. I believe Edwards is from Wichita Falls originally per article last week from OTF. Thus, Lubbock may not be such a stretch for him.

Huag has legit measurables. Think he has the chance to be a nfl player. I know we are picky with offers but he can play at UT. at 6’2 195 he recorded some very good track times as a jr and his production on the field is outstanding. TRACK & FIELD - Posted junior season-best 100-meter reps of 10.65, 10.82, and 10.96, per MileSplit. Also recorded a 22-3 long jump in Spring 2026.

With our win vs. Ohio State and the Okie St win vs. Oregon that's really must have the Okies in a sad state today. If Okie St turns out a good season with a great offense and if OU's offense continues to struggle that will really put pressure on Venables to make a change at OC. I'm already hearing rumblings of Kevin Wilson (a name from the past) as an OC.
