I had a chance to interview and spend time with him when I was a grad student and I was really impressed with him and his approach.

    Agree! At least with Mack you had some flashes but Charlie was just pure trainwreck. The biggest misstep Mack made imo was try to change the offense in 2010 to a power running game with a QB that specialized in spread/RPO like Gilbert did at LT. Le Sigh, darkest time is right before the dawn right?!
