  1. I can definitely agree with you there that Baker, although I wouldn’t call him athletic (comparatively at least), I would definitely agree that he is “sneaky” athletic, or more athletic than given credit for. I think Sayin’s reputation will be very similar once he gets more playing time.
  2. Yeah, I think it’s best that we just agree to disagree. I’ve read every practice report for the past two years, listened to nearly every Ohio State podcast and watched every snap Baker took in the NFL preseason and regular season. I’m not sure where this reputation of Baker being athletic is coming from.
  3. I’m a diehard Cleveland Browns fan as well. It’s 100% correct.
  4. I never viewed Baker as much of a scrambler but Sayin is definitely more athletic than Baker.
  5. I wouldn’t call it a reworked defensive line. They are all 4 experienced players who have been in the program. Ohio State’s starting DT’s should be dominant.
  6. Ohio State doesn’t have an all new IOL. It’s probably the most experienced IOL in CFB.
  7. How could he have played 5 snaps when he was 3/6 passing for 19 yards? Also, I have a hard time believing playing Georgia at home (a team Notre Dame and Georgia Tech pushed around all night) is going to be “scarier” than The Shoe with four new OL and no proven wide receivers. You might want to lower your expectations just a little.
  8. LT on 8/30 will be Austin Siereveld who was the #1 IOL backup last season and beat out Ethan Onianwa for starting LT. Siereveld has been the talk of fall camp with his rapid ascension. RT Phillip Daniels. He started the 2nd half of last season for Minnesota as a true freshman, he was huge in PJ Fleck’s future plans for his OL. He beat out Ethan Onianwa for RT and by all accounts has been dominant in fall camp.
  9. Ohio State is returning all 3 IOL that started against Indiana, Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and Notre Dame. So really it’s semantics of whether you call Seth McLaughlin a starter lost or not. Against Texas, Ohio State’s starting offensive line was LT Donovan Jackson (a guard who never played tackle prior to kicking out due to injury) LG Luke Montgomery (he will be starting LG on 8/30 C Carson Hinzman (he will be starting C on 8/30) RG Tegra Tshabola (he will be starting RG on 8/30) RT Josh Fryar (he graduated, was a 3* coming out of high school who was ok, but definitely the weak link on the OL)
  10. Thank you all for having me. This has been the most cordial opposing team forum I’ve ever been on.
  11. Don’t worry, Ohio State fans are the same way. If Saban wouldn’t have retired and he never left Alabama, I’m sure we would have many critiques of his game.
  12. Jeremiah Smith on Julian Sayin ”That arm is different. He can make any and every throw. Just a smart QB. He’s definitely going to be a guy. It’s going to be scary for opponents.” 8/30 can’t come soon enough! Is it just me or does just under two weeks feel like an eternity?
  13. You probably don’t follow Ohio State as closely as I do. Either way, we will all find out together one way or another in 2 weeks. I’m not convinced that the Arch Manning we saw against Georgia isn’t going to be the Arch we see against Ohio State.
  14. He’s 6’1 210. Plenty big enough for college football. I don’t care about height until it comes to the NFL
  15. The funny thing is that even though WH was 6’4 225, Sayin has a stronger arm than Will Howard. And when I say stronger, what I mean is he can throw the ball further than Will Howard. Can he throw it further and be as accurate? We will find out, but Sayin can launch the ball.
  16. Yeah, Tua was the most accurate deep ball thrower I have ever seen. I hope no Buckeye is comparing him to Tua. Sayin’s defining trait is his processing speed.
  17. I wouldn’t recommend basing anything off of spring games
  18. But you may be right on the 5-7 step drop backs. Texas’s front 6/7 might not allow that anyways
  19. Very interesting opinions. From all local reports, Sayin’s arm strength is one of his best attributes
  20. Innis is a dawg, and will be replacing Egbuka in the slot. I’m not worried about Innis being able to step up, I’m worried will Julian Sayin be able to thread the needle like Will Howard did against Texas. There were 3-4 passes that Will Howard threw that if they were just an inch lower, or a millisecond behind they would have been intercepted. Texas’ defense was outstanding. Ohio State was very fortunate.
  21. In all seriousness, Ohio State has NFL wide receivers in Innis and Tate BUT they are not burners and they are not genetic freaks. I would do the exact same thing Texas did in the sugar bowl, I wouldn’t change a thing
  22. They should focus on Carnell Tate and Brandon Innis. Jeremiah Smith is overrated. Put Anthony Hill on him!
  23. Yup, 100%. If Texas rattles him early it’s going to be very hard for Ohio State to move the ball.
  24. I think that the play calling, offensive line, tight ends, and wide receivers will cover up a lot of his inexperience.
