David Latiolais Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Has Texas decided to not worry about getting a top 5 recruiting class, and balance out NIL dollars between High School and the portal? As A&M gone all in this year on high school recruiting and will pass on the portal some what? 1 1 Quote
Moderators CJ Vogel Posted 3 hours ago Moderators Posted 3 hours ago No doubt teams began to speed up the timelines a bit this cycle. Shoot, Texas has done it. Texas didn't gain their 10th commit in the 2026 cycle until June 18th. But again, the months of June and July is where Texas its most damage in recruiting. The official visits are going to be massive and we have known this for a few years now. I think what Brandon Harris said on the Woj podcast was very telling – Why spend on a high school kid when roster retention and portal talent are priority. Not to say Texas won't go big on high school recruiting, but we have seen more and more developmental takes over the last ten months than what was the norm when NIL and HS were first introduced to one another. 5 Quote
LonghornFan4Ever Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago The jury is still out on this class, but there was another thread posted earlier this morning about the 2025 #1 ranked class they had and so far the returns haven’t been what some thought it would be at this point. Not sure in this era with how quickly players can transfer out if having a class like that is worth it. Maybe a top 10 high school recruiting class and getting proven commodities in the transfer portal is a better strategy for now unless the portal gets nerfed. 2 Quote

Bunk Moreland Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago They still haven’t figured out what Texas realized after signing the #1 recruiting class: if you’re going to invest all that NIL in high school players, they’d better be on the field contributing next year. Otherwise it’s just dead money that you can’t allocate to bringing in a badass portal class. Didn’t work out so well for Texas last year and Sark is already showing he’s not going to make the same mistake twice. 6 Quote

Aggy is tying up millions in players that will not see the field for years. ou has a few good players committed but Texas was not even recruiting most of them. Naggy appears to be an idiot and BV is a Jag. I am worried about competing against Georgia and Ohio states of the world. Aggy and ou are afterthoughts at this point. 2 1 Quote
Moderators Jordan Scruggs Posted 3 hours ago Moderators Posted 3 hours ago Obviously a long way to go in the cycle, but A&M is specifically aiming to sign the No. 1 class and OU will probably finish ahead of Texas as well. But the important thing to remember is how much money is saved for the portal when you look at Texas' class compared to those classes. Think about how many high dollar players are coming off the books this year for Texas — Colin Simmons, Trevor Goosby, Arch Manning, Jelani McDonald, Cam Coleman, Rasheem Biles, Hero Kanu, and possibly Ryan Wingo and Melvin Siani. Outside of Royal, Texas' top targets are still on the board and there will be several big additions between now and signing day. And to top it off, Texas will likely end up signing another great portal class. 8 Quote
Joe Zura Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago We are losing so much to the NFL next year We are going portal shopping like hell this next offseason it’s really that simple idk why we need to cry for Gerry Aggie’s and CJ Sooners having good classes it really ain’t that deep 2 Quote
awashbump Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Don't ever worry about recruiting rankings in May. Don't ever worry about getting recruits with Sark as HC 2 Quote

This is Texas's philosophy on roster building right now. The portal changed the calculation and Indiana showed how it's done ✔️. Quote

Texas is clearly focused on signing 8-10 elite high school recruits, surrounding them with a bunch of high-upside but cheap developmental prospects, and maximizing the NIL to bring in a bunch of Cam Coleman-level players next year to replace what they lose to the draft. And I happen to think they’ve figured out the right formula. 1 1 Quote
Beldar Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago No doubt Aggie is doing well in this class. If new rules come up making it harder for kids to transfer , High School kids would then become a bigger thing. We will see how it turns out. We just need to get kids like we did last year that look like they are better than we expected apparently according to reports. 1 Quote

NothinButDaHorns34 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Seriously? Are people new to this, naive or just want to complain? This is sark and staff’s MO for like 6 years now in recruiting here. Quote

There are only 2 or 3 guys from aTm or Mobilehoma Texas would recruit. Sarkisian is not like Herman waiting for Stoops' scraps. OP most likely an OB or ON3 refugee. Quote
