TexTheHorn24 Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago I mean how does the NCAA not investigate Tx Tech at this point after these comments and actions. Did they intentionally try to cover up their acquisition of someone who bet on his own team (the Pete rose sin), and now is the institution trying to circumvent the NCAA on protecting the literal integrity of sports? This is lowkey worse than what SMU did. 5 Quote
Waxahorn Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago How would you feel if you learned that some Texas starting player had bet on that NC game against Alabama? Not good at all. This cannot be allowed to stand. 3 Quote
TexTheHorn24 Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago I guess all Pete Rose had to do was sue the MLB was banned for life for betting on games 1 Quote

This is lowkey worse than what SMU did. I feel like you have to include IU AND Cincy in that too. There’s no way they didn’t know about this. I agree it’s worse than SMU especially in the day and age of NIL and rev share. They broke the rules and deserved to be punished, but they weren’t the only ones doing exactly the same thing. Ahem, Miami, Florida State, OU, TAMU to name a few. This isn’t tampering or giving someone’s mom a house this is one individual who screwed up and Tech is willing to risk all credibility and integrity they have trying to get a player back that should be banned for life. It’s not about the kid at this point it’s about what their actions show the world and the other players. Take care of the kid if he’s really struggling that bad, but the best live and care is accountability for your actions. You committed a cardinal sin in sport, and you must suffer the consequences. At no point has anyone ever argued that the NCAA’s stanch on gambling is too harsh or antiquated. Edited 15 hours ago by Alex Butler 4 Quote

davisxcole Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Genuinely if I was a Tech fan I would boycott/never root for Tech football after their statement today saying they’re going to appeal the decision. This dude bet on his own team, this is a absolute joke. 2 Quote

I’m going to laugh until I wet myself if IU and Cincinnati self-report, issue statements in support of the NCAA’s gambling bylaws, and pledge to cooperate with any NCAA investigation. 1 3 Quote

I've seen it in my own life with people around me, they relapse all the time, have to fight the addiction daily, etc. He's just going to magically "heal" in a short time frame and then jump straight back into the beast with zero temptation? You describe a quarterback who needs clinical care, digital monitoring, blocked gambling access, and financial supervision - and then you frame his ineligibility as some kind of injustice. You didn’t argue against the ruling. You validated it. 10 Quote

This isn't about Brendan Sorsby's "best interests"... gimme a break! It's in the best interest of Texas Tech and having access to the qb you paid 6 million dollars for, and winning back to back Big 12 championships... that's what it's about. So be damned the integrity and fabric of competition, Cody wants another trophy!! Big crock of 💩 and any judge with common sense and dignity wouldn't allow it to rest on their bench. I'm sure they'll find one to their liking.. seems to be a lot of those available for purchase... Supreme Court on down. If Sorsby plays, the game dies, period. 5 4 Quote

Could be a defining moment. Rules are in place for a reason. Without the punishment phase that are useless. 1 Quote

In rehab they told us, this is only the start, it’s a good start but the real work comes when you’re back out. All you have to do is change everything, your habits, your friends, your thoughts, your actions, your perspective. This is a sad situation for the young man, but part of making amends is seeing your part and being willing to accept the consequences and do whatever you can to make things right. “Let go and let God” is a common phrase used, when he ceases fighting everyone and everything he will be able to see the purpose behind all this. Unfortunately, it does not seem like football is his path or purpose to true recovery and freedoms from addiction. I pray for him and his family. 2 Quote

Rehab does not tell you to go back to your normal activities that drove you to your addiction. They tell you to remake your life void of the things that created the toxic environment you are in. Addiction is not like a cold that you just get over. It's a life long thing that will constantly weigh on you. You can be sober for years and you will still have that voice in the back of your head asking you to do one more bump, one more drink, one more whatever it is, and you have to fight that voice EVERYDAY. I would akin what he is trying to do to an alcoholic going back to work as a bartender. NO DUDE!! The fact that he is in the spotlight makes it so much worse. He is going to have fans heckling him constantly about it. every move he makes that is wrong, will be questioned about did he have money on the line. 2 Quote
