But frankly I don't think it's worth having the discussion with you. I'd prefer to spend my day celebrating the win and having the discussion with someone who is mature enough to have a more nuanced discussion. It was initially just a joke man. Taking yourself too seriously. But it’s not really very nuanced. Who do you want Texas to emulate? Probably UGA, Ohio State or Saban Bama? Something like that? What do/did all those teams have in common? They were good playing as number one. A very good team or a very good player shouldn’t need a chip on their shoulder to do well. If you want Texas do be a dynasty, Texas being #1 should be a common place thing. They need to get used to it. Quote
Pugsly Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago I hope sliding from 1st to 6th is really chappings Ryan Day's A$$! Quote
TJS5015 Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago I keep seeing the misconception (in my opinion) that Ohio State choked the game away. I’m of the mindset that If Texas would have played a clean game then the 4th quarter is a microcosm of what the entire game would have looked like. Also it might be time for Arch to allow other receivers to play. Lockett, Kohen Brown, 5th year transfer(his name escapes me). Wingo bad play is tarting to outweigh his good. He got drove backwards on the first play leading to the ball being kicked out of Raleeks hands. Several times he looked lost and he has the drops… This team is too talented to let a recruiting promise to ANY player including Arch stop them from reaching their potential 1 1 Quote

Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t see Oklahoma doing anything to this team. I think it is very unlikely that Texas will not be focused for the Tennessee game- that is the first conference game. I think they will have added focus on that game for two reasons: 1) lost first SEC game last year 2) Manning connection to Tennessee I am happy that MState is a home game. That could get problematic in Starkville. I like our home stretch in October, I think that will play out very well for us. I like that we have the home stretch first and the away stretch later in the season, as opposed to vice versa last year. If I had to worry about any trap games- I’m going Mizzou or Arkansas. I think the coaches should be able to ensure the players are focused on all other teams 1 Quote

If you have been a Texas fan as long as me, you would know what I'm talking about when I say we get everyone's best shot no matter what we are ranked. Why? Because of the name across our chest. The#1 ranking doesn't add any more weight, especially as a player. We as Texas fans seem to freak out more than everyone else at being #1 because we don't think we are worthy of it. Yes I was basically agreeing with you . Sorry if it came out confusing. We always get the best shot. Fan a long time and got my Masters there. Coached a long time as well so I totally get it. I'll be nice and move on now. And for the record I'm not freaking out about anything. Just try to be realistic. We are good . #1 good is another question right now. Top 5 for sure! 1 Quote

But if this team is really built different, then we will keep improving and show it. Always thought 10- 2 was about right. Great shot at that now as a floor and even more👍 This team does seem to be built differently!! Witness Cam's relentless pursuit of the ball when he did not possess it. His two fumble recoveries retained possession for Texas. Even most top CFB WR become mere spectators if they do not possess the ball. Not Cam Coleman! He has bought into the team winning culture! 🤘🏻🤘🏼🤘🤘🏽🤘🏾🤘🏿 3 Quote

Thanos72 Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago We didn’t play or look like a number 1 but It only matters if we have a bunch of cheese eaters on the team. Strategically, it’s a nice cushion/start for playoff positioning. Quote
Tim Longoria Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago We're sitting here talking about how the team has to deal with and learn to manage success. So do some fans apparently. How're you going to cheer for us to win every game and be afraid of the consequences of winning them? I want this program and fans to go into games walking in like the big dog. Like it's a huge accomplishment if someone beats us. With that aura we see Ohio State, Georgia, in the past Bama and Clemson walk in with. 2 Quote
AusMOJO Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago To be expected. I don't agree with many here that it's rat poison or whatever. Because the team actually earned the #1 by beating the best team in the country. Even though it wasn't the greatest performance or what we were expecting necessarily, the fact they were able to pull it off and not give up is #1 worthy, imo. I don't mind being #1 because that's the expectation of being a great program. Now is there a ton they have to clean up? Sh*t yeah that is very evident. But if this is your floor, your ceiling is insane. Quote

FootLaw Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago They won themselves a little CFP breathing room. We may very well need it. One week at a time. 1 Quote
BurntOrangeHorn Posted 38 minutes ago Posted 38 minutes ago Texas definitely dominated the second half and Especially late 3rd quarter and all of the fourth quarter! It was no fluke victory!! 🤘🏻🤘🏼🤘🤘🏽🤘🏾🤘🏿 Quote
