TexShoe Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I thought our fans were spectacular Saturday night. 4Q was a more electric than 1990 UH. Yep, I said it. Two comments/questions for the board: 1. We booed the team on a couple occasions in 3Q. In today's college football, how do we feel about that? Have we softened our position that "these are kids"? Or did the amount of money they're rightfully being paid change your attitude on that? 2. A couple people texted me about Texas fans rushing the field. I was in section 1, and I saw no such thing. Did anyone else see this? 3 Quote

Bootleghorn Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I heard boos from OSU fans in the 2nd half. I also saw a few kids rush the field from the SEZ. 1 Quote
bevocbs Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago 1. I was down on the rail on the East side and I did not see anyone rushing the field. I think most of the people on the field were from the south endzone club who have direct access to the field. I am not sure if they are truly allowed to go out past the end zone after the game, but it was not a "rush the field". 2. UT fans were definitely booing, and maybe it was "directed" at Sark, but I guarantee that is not how it was taken. The players will think it is directed at them (and they did hear it). 3. I always have and always will thinking booing your own team is stupid. Whether that is college or professional sports. I understand the frustration and the temptation to boo, but it says more about the maturity of us fans than it does anything else. It is not like the players or coaches are not trying to do their best and booing is going to somehow remind them to play or coach harder. They are trying way harder than we are as fans. They are just humans and sometimes fail. 4. Save the booing for the refs. They may also be trying their best, but booing may actually subconsciously lead them to benefitting your team on the next close call. 5 Quote

Did anyone else see this? Regarding the booing, a lot of us (myself included) were very vocal about how displeased we were with the showing up until the 4th quarter. We are all human and spending $500+ at minimum to see a team that looked unfocused and unprepared must have been frustrating. 4 Quote
MBHORNSFAN Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago It was an awesome night. ALL the fans were loud.... 1 Quote
tenneseehorn08 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) I wouldn't do it and don't think it is a good idea, but I think it was easy to see people were booing flat passes/bubble screens that mostly weren't working. That's about Sark's play calls. I think Sark knows the standard is the standard, he mentioned he heard it, and he was a man about it. I imagine he can coach the guys through it, too. charlie990 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) Booing your own team is the ultimate trash fan activity. I was around for that Kansas loss, this ain't that bad lol. However, if I saw another backwards pass for a 5 yard loss. A boo might have come out. Edited 1 hour ago by charlie990 1 1 Quote

El Pancho Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I was jacked the fans didn’t leave! I remember games in years past where this happened and needed to have it happen. 2 Quote

I'm not smart enough to know if those plays were to set up future plays, i.e. train the defenders' eyes for certain behavior to set the trap. We won, so I digress. 2 Quote

DiggsTX Posted 49 minutes ago Posted 49 minutes ago I’m in the “you should never boo your own team” camp and especially not the players themselves. Thought it was exceedingly dumb and entitled on Saturday. 1 Quote

hookemrj13 Posted 43 minutes ago Posted 43 minutes ago I stand on the side that the field SHOULD have been rushed. It was against #1 and with the frustration that the fan base felt that game, the 21point come back, and the games against OSU and UG in the past...it would have been fitting and fun to see! Spare me the "We're Texas we dont rush for anyone." BS Quote
tenneseehorn08 Posted 40 minutes ago Posted 40 minutes ago 14 minutes ago, Bobby Burton said: The final pass to Mosley was definitely set up by the bubble screens earlier. 100%. I'm not saying the fans were right or that Sark should listen to them. OP mentioned the players might be too fragile to handle the boos. And although I was rolling my eyes at with my brother and think it is dumb to boo your own team in general, I am just saying Sark won't let it get to them and will make sure the players know it's because the fans have high expectations/they need to play better. Most fans stayed and cheered their heads off (still don't have my voice); the boos won't get them down. Quote
bevocbs Posted 36 minutes ago Posted 36 minutes ago I understand the frustration with the sideways passes (and I might have yelled my share of curses at the sky), but two points. First, some were called to set up future plays (see posts above about the Mosley play). And second, not all of those were necessarily called. Several times Arch checked down to the running back/TE out in the flat. And my recollection from being at the game is that the play where the booing was the loudest was an Arch check down and not a designed pass to the flats. That is partly why I think, regardless of fans intent, players are likely to interpret the boos as directed at them. 1 Quote

Spare me the "We're Texas we dont rush for anyone." BS I will not spare you the "We're Texas" BS. It's the essence of who we are, and what makes us different than 90% of the two bit schools. When Michigan rushed the field against directional Michigan, they thoroughly embarrassed themselves. In fact, rushing the field at DKR should carry a lifetime ban from ever attention a game again.
