So interesting that we have so many players/recruits in all sports are from southern California (3 Mater Dei starters on our offense alone!),,,,, many others on various rosters throughout the program.  Three major factors:

- the best California schools are in the Big 10 (SC/UCLA/Wash/Oregon) and ACC (Stanford/Cal)- miserable amount of travel for these secondary sports

- direct flights to Austin, and

- Austin's overall vibe compared to places like Lubbock, Norman, Lincoln, College Station etc........

It''s a real pipeline for all of our sports.

That's what I'm saying.  I don't think it's recruiting season right now for indoor volleyball, but I could be wrong.  Would be cool to get some recruiting nuggets for that down the road once it picks up again.

Major League Baseball banning high school players from the draft proposal has been presented by MLB owners to the MLBPA.  Because Swafford is in the class of 2028, his high school graduation aligns perfectly with the exact year MLB wants to implement this high school draft ban. If the owners’ proposal is passed in the next CBA, he will.

1. Do you expect the recent baseball commitments to get drafted and go pro?

2. Does the win against Ohio State help land these recent baseball and softball recruits or is the timing coincidental?

Blake, he is a 2028 class recruit, correct. If so can he reclassify to 2027 and if so he would be 16-17 years old and thus a minor. Would that insure he would be on campus and not eligible for the ML draft by doing so? Thanks

Too early to tell on No. 1. 

The game day atmosphere and mood around campus definitely don’t hurt anything. That’s for sure. As for the win itself, that doesn’t matter much, no. But what surrounds it, definitely.

I was going to ask where our Cody Campbell is- who loves UT baseball? We need a sugar daddy, or daddies, to step in and say, "We will match your signing bonus,"  which is always the reason these kids sign with the pros to sacrifice in the minors. Then I looked up what the typical top-10 signing bonus was ($12-$8 million), and I dropped that thought. No wonder these kids never make it to campus. If they are smart with their money, they are set for life in one paycheck.

Two things…

1. I know the majority of everyone is thinking he will never step foot on campus. Odds are, that’s correct. However, his family is very much into the academic side of things. So while it’s doubtful he makes it to Texas, he has about as much of a chance that you can ask for when it comes to a guy like this. 

2. Colt and his team won. We play in an 8 team district and district play started last night, so that was huge.

The MLB collective bargaining agreement could influence it more than in years past
