So is Masunas officially a bust?

Since I'm not expecting Nick Townsend back this week and with Spencer Shannon not a proven pass catcher or Emares a proven run blocker, just wondering what happened with Masunas? Wasn't Masunas getting good spring buzz? Would be nice if he could give us some good ROI. 
 

Tight end portal has not worked out since the days of Jahleel Billingsley.

Not enough sample size to say bust. He just may not be as comfortable in the offense as the others are yet. This may be a big opportunity for him this week as a blocker if Townsend isn’t able to go.

You could also say that Spencer Shannon has been excellent blocking as an in-line TE. Just because Shannon is taking reps there, doesn’t mean that Masunas is a bust.

Masunas had 24 career receptions before showing up in Austin. He was touted as a physical blocker, not a David Thomas, Blaine Irby, JT Sanders-type receiving TE.

Small sample size against UTSA but he had his best performance. My thinking is Winston and Shannon have exceeded expectations, particularly Winston's pass-catching ability. But Texas needs Masunas to be more consistent and to be able to contribute more in the SEC slate, especially with Townsend out.

Asked Sark about TEs today. He, too, mentioned Masunas needing to be more consistent. They're going to need all four.

It's fair to ask about him, but calling him a bust is ludicrous. He's a 5th-year transfer blocking TE from Michigan State. We didn't break the bank for him. He was expected depth with starter upside, but Spencer Shannon has improved. 

If Cam Coleman had 3 catches and 0 TDs, we could talk bust. 

I think anyone thinking the bust question is fair probably needs to check their own understanding or interpretation of scouting reports on 5th-year transfer TEs from crappy Big 10 programs.

Thought the question was about DBs being a bust not elite.  Jelani is not a bust even if not elite.
