lemonandaturd Posted Wednesday at 07:13 PM Posted Wednesday at 07:13 PM If Arch goes, KJ Lacey is going to do fine, kind of like Bryce Young did as a sophomore at Alabama after Mac Jones left. Quote

Or keelon Russell, kamario, Carr, Sayin, etc. i think recruiting is still path 1, with the portal to patch when guys don’t hit. While it’s nice to go out and have a proven commodity, it’s not like xfers are 100% hits either. It all comes down to costs. my preferred strategy is have one 5 star guy recruited, surrounded by cheaper 3 and four stars (lotto tickets). Then be ready to go to portal if they don’t pan out. if it’s actually true that homegrown starters can be cheaper than the highest priced portal, then this would make sense. If they cost the same either way, then just get the best player. Is Arch costing more against UTs budget than leavitt? I wouldn’t think so, but he’s also unique in that brands are more willing to pay for his name outside of donor money Quote

The pattern is this: Coach is told to fire his OC or DC....if that works the next year, he is safe. If it doesn't then he is gone. Remember when Mack had to fire Greg Davis? Then Charlie Strong had to fire both his DC and OC? 1 Quote

The optics would be really, really bad for Sark if Arch transfers and does extremely well while looking like a complete different QB. If Arch returns to Texas and has a last season like Quinn and KJ/Dia portal to Miami/Indiana/Oregon and ball out how does Sark look? I personally think Arch has nothing more to do at Texas after this season, no matter what we finish like. Both need new folks.... Quote

Donors will not just let him run it back. Quote

Hoover doesn't seem like such a great pick for Cignetti. Plus I think Sark said he'd much prefer to develop the "premium positions" like LT, Edge, QB, etc. We'll see this year. The top teams this year seem to have transfer QB's for the most part. We'll see what that final 4 looks like again. Hoover is a lot better than the QB they had in-house, Alberto Mendoza, who has not been good at Georgia tech Quote

KJ I would bet transfers though unless Sark can convince him to Mac Jones it, but this day and age with NiL I don’t see it. Next year will be Arch, Dia and the incoming freshman and probably portal a 4th guy with experience as insurance like we have done every year. Quote
mmdaytontexas Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago If Sark opens the QB competition up, I'm not convinced that the 3-star KJ beats out the 5-Star Dia when it's all said and done. Quote
HudGar1922 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago if arch leaves go grab brad jackson from texas state. he can run, knows the quick game, and has pocket presence for days 1 Quote
drag worm Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago They certainly haven't been grooming the next QB with live reads the way they should be. But I would still roll with our current guys and spend every dollar we have on a new OL in the portal this offseason. If we don't have the best OL in the country next year there are even bigger malfunctions in our roster management than the ones we already know about. Quote

SimGent Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago I just don't see anyone with the last name Manning entering the transfer portal. Especially while being the favorite to start the next year at a place like Texas. Fix the interior of the OL. 1 Quote

Take a look at how much Texas spends in NIL then look at every offensive metric. If Texas misses the CFP and he refuses to make any changes it would be far from dumb. Quote

Sark making changes vs replacing Sark isn't even remotely the same thing...how many other coaches have been to the final four 2 out of 3 years? I swear we are the most spoiled fan base outside of maybe Bama. Edited 46 minutes ago by HookemFromOkc Quote
