We talked about this on C&F this morning ... Sark talks about not losing their "stinger" on offense.

1.) What do you think a "stinger" is?

2.) What is Texas' stinger?

The only stinger I had heard of was what Bobby mentioned which is a hit that rattles you. Then there's also this guy...

A wasp keeps its stinger after it stings and keeps stinging.  A bee loses its stinger and dies after using it.

Maybe he should say be more like a wasp and less like a bee?

And a "Texas Stinger" sounds like a $1 shot at any dive bar.  Maybe Titos vodka, lime, and jalapeno juice?

I think the context was a question about Arch holding onto the ball too long looking for that deep shot explosive play and was that a smart strategy. I think he thinks those deep shot explosive plays are his "stinger." They make the defense have to respect it and account for it.

In all seriousness a stinger is the what we do that punishes other teams. Our “stinger” is the big play downfield. The problem is when we sting our offense dies for 5 possessions until the stinger comes back.

Agree. At least in Sark’s mind, the offense’s stinger is the deep ball. Which explains why he’s having such a hard time committing to the quick game, while we continue to see Arch stand in the pocket waiting for long plays to develop.

Wingo end around?  That’s literally the only consistently successful play we have on offense.

The play is Wingo. Get that man is space, also Bishop in space and Arch on the move/running

I assume Sark is talking about their big play ability on offense.  Sark's obsession with the deep shot that reflects in Arch's play is one of the biggest problems with this offense IMO.  Arch holds the ball too long looking for bigger plays, which leads to late checkdowns, sacks, and at times turnovers.  I think Sark is stressing it more this year to justify Cam Coleman's big contract.  Arch was not hunting the deep shot nearly as much last year.

The play calling vs Ole Miss and on the last TD drive vs Miss St looked a lot like the play calling in the 2nd half of last year.  Sark needs to stick with what works.  He can take his "stinger" and...

We don’t have the offensive line for that right now. Frustrating to see no Tight End lay over the middle for a quick 7 yards. And running  Raleek between the guards instead of stretching outside is another 2nd and 9. And what is up with the penalties? Can’t understand how we are this deep into the season and we are still this undisciplined

Agree.  I'm starting to think Sark is obsessed with the deep pass and the element of surprise, and goes to great lengths to disguise his offense, including what he puts on film for future opponents.  If I'm right, you aren't supposed to understand it.

If he is referring to the offensive line, a mosquito.

if he is referring to the defense, a box jellyfish.

The quick game with good blocking from WRs and TEs as showcased vs Ole Miss. The problem is the OL whiffs immediately off the snap or Arch takes too long to make the pass. It was highly effective with Quinn and his OL

I think a big part of Sark's MO is setting up future plays. He seems willing to lay a turd on one play if he can set up the stinger when you don't expect it. That's usually a deep hit, or one of those Wingo sideline screens etc...

I love Sark actually, but sometimes I think he is gets too lost in the setup instead of just plodding down the field, and I don't think currently he has been taking the level of play of the OL into consideration in his play calling very well. He could help them out quite a bit by adjusting his playcalling a bit imo until the bigger issues get resolved.
