If he didn’t trash the horns out the door I would have been in the “he needs help and I pray for him phase” but…. Karma

I hope he gets help but IDGAF about what happens to him

Sad. Isn’t this when folks need support the most? His exit was a sign of his spiraling. We need more empathy in this country not celebrations of a troubled kid falling.

The NFL isn't in the picture anymore for this kid. He needs to get right and live a respectable life.

It’s 100% still in the picture. Look at all of the people they still allow in from college or who do even worst things that should be in prison for years and they’re just collecting $100m paydays.

Another college opportunity isn’t even in the picture at this point.

Agiye Hall was on probation for like a year and just transferred to Sacramento State with Brennan Marion. Netflix had a whole series on kids getting a new start towards redemption.

"Hope he gets help... but IDGAF about what happens to him......." WOW.... if there was ever a " can't have it both ways" situation, this is it. So the "theft" is for $100-$750... have you seen his Instagram? Definitely not struggling.. so there's more to it than what you read. Anyhow.... let's hope he gets his life together and just leave it at that. This is the type of stuff that happens when you're young, and it's typical of people, especially in today's climate, to only care about the people they care about. Sad for Johntay... but even worse for us older adults acting worse than children.

Yeah bc coddling the guy and telling him it’s never his fault is the way to go

No one is saying to coddle him. There's always the "I'm a man, I don't feel things like a girl" tough guy assumption. Kid needs a strong mentor who will be honest with him and be harsh when needed. If he doesn't want to listen that's on him to not want to get his career and life on track. Whether if it's mental health issues or maturity issues that needs to be taken care of early in his life.

Holding someone accountable for their actions has nothing to do with empathy, compassion, or hoping they turn things around. He needs to be held to account. Crapping on him because he hurt your football feelings says way more about you than him. He’s a kid and hopefully rehabilitatable.

Those guys have NFL talent and produce. Johntay has marginal talent and no production.

I read a report that he stole car keys from a drive thru employee. There could be more to this ,but imagine how childish you would have to be to steal car keys from a fast food worker. Maybe they know each other but either way it’s a very foolish thing to do.

Hope he gets it together.

If you have read the stories today he was at a Smokeshop at 7 this morning. His Credit Card was declined and he stole the employees keys. Then evidently resisted when caught. Maybe he has blown all that $ on his habit! Also Chip Brown reported he was snooping around players lockers at Washington trying to steal. Heard same thing happened at Texas and he was called out. Again  he needs help, but facts matter sometimes while you can have compassion. Definitely more to it than what you read as well. To each his own on their compassion or not!

Him doing that was a sign of what was coming. Having another team reject him was probably what sent him spiraling quicker. It’s about him as a person. People around him need to care about him. Who is he if he isn’t a football player? He is no longer wanted by football. Somebody needs to help him realize his life matters. Football should have nothing to do with it.

Agreed. Sports is the toy department of life.  His life is more important than being a football player.   I don’t know Jontay Cook, so I can’t say what’s really in his mind. But I think too many football players think that football is all that defines them.  I hope he figures out that is not true because it could be that football is now behind him.
