When will this be finalized? I remember this happening last year and Arizona ended up retaining him

Position coach this time not analyst like last year.

On some level this whole thing makes you wonder about the joseph situation. He never had a contract renewed. We then hired a guy to coach his position despite losing the other db coach. And now we immediately hired akina as if it were planned the whole time.  Not saying we pushed him out but it’s not as simple as the saints just offered him and he left.

This was obviously planned and also been in the works for awhile.

I don't mind the hire, but I'm curious why? Is he still a top DB coach in college? Do we think he'll be here a few years and then pass it off to someone else? Either way, love to see Coach Akina back on the 40.

Just when we get used to Sark taking his time and unique hires...he goes off and hires a coach we all know on the same day.

Good hire who knows the school, state, and expectations.

The idea that Akina's age will cost Texas on the recruiting trail is crazy to me. I promise that is so far down the list of what’s important in recruiting right now.

I mean does he even need to be out on the road recruiting?  We have so many young energetic coaches it’s okay to have a pk and an akina focus on other things.

AD may be 68 but he has the energy of late 40 year old.

Spin. I'm huge Akina fan 12-15 years ago. Respected no doubt. But this will be used against him any way you slice it

Wow...ok...cool....Hook'Em! I love the hire. You just never know what the heck Sark will do when it comes to hiring as I wasn't expecting him to go in this direction, but it certainly makes sense. 🤘

Prospects care about NIL and development. Akina will be fitting in just fine 🤘

I dunno, kids might flock to him rolling to practice on a burnt orange Rascal.

I’m not worried as much about that as seeing how his man proclivities lines up with tendency to play cover three match to near exclusion.
