Moderators CJ Vogel Posted Friday at 04:21 PM Moderators Posted Friday at 04:21 PM Sounds like a total mess. The Tennessee QB held out of practice due to a contract dispute reportedly. Meanwhile, I look back to what Arch Manning said yesterday about sitting for two years to become the quarterback at The University of Texas: “Sometimes things are worth the wait.” Very fortunate this is the QB situation in Austin. 34 2 2 1 Quote
Bobbers Posted Friday at 04:26 PM Posted Friday at 04:26 PM I'm sorry, but Nico is not that special of a quarterback. I will bet there are five good game managers that would love to play at Tennessee that the volunteers could use at quarterback. They need to give him an ultimatum, and if he doesn't agree then cut him loose. 7 1 Quote
ArizonaLonghorn Posted Friday at 04:31 PM Posted Friday at 04:31 PM (edited) Wow, supposedly a NIL deal worth potentially $8 million with Tennessee collective Spyre Sports Group when he signed (supposedly the details were leaked by his agent), plus whatever else he can scrounge up in the after markets. But Tennessee doesn't have a backup plan in place, so he has them over a barrel. What could go wrong? Gotta love Sark's approach to the QB position. Edit: just saw he's asking $4 million/year, up from the current $2 mill deal. Edited Friday at 04:37 PM by ArizonaLonghorn 2 Quote
Q Posted Friday at 04:34 PM Posted Friday at 04:34 PM (edited) Now Nico is saying it's not true lol. Total mess. Edited Friday at 04:38 PM by Q 1 1 Quote

MikeH Posted Friday at 04:43 PM Posted Friday at 04:43 PM Kinda surprised it took this long for something like this to happen. It was always only a matter of time. What a huge mess that program has on their hands now though. 3 Quote
Texas fan in Georgia Posted Friday at 04:54 PM Posted Friday at 04:54 PM Remember when they said this was what Texas would have to worry about with arch 😂 will the real UT please stand up bc it ain’t in Knoxville! 5 2 Quote

Hashtag Posted Friday at 05:43 PM Posted Friday at 05:43 PM (edited) I think this is a scenario of Tennessee trying to puff their chest out and be the big boys of NIL early on coming back to bite them in the year due to poor NIL contract writing. Edited Friday at 05:43 PM by Hashtag 2 Quote

Moderators CJ Vogel Posted Friday at 05:47 PM Author Moderators Posted Friday at 05:47 PM Imagine walking into the locker room to finish out the spring with your teammates. What has Nico done to deserve more than what he is being offered? Why should his teammates give him the benefit of the doubt for this when they’re out on the field working? 15 Quote
Moderators CJ Vogel Posted Friday at 05:51 PM Author Moderators Posted Friday at 05:51 PM The rest of the SEC should be pretty happy Tennessee has millions tied up with Nico, rather than spreading that money out to other prime positions and finding an actual game changer at QB. 15 Quote

TTaylor2135 Posted Friday at 06:16 PM Posted Friday at 06:16 PM Just makes me appreciate Sark and co more and more by the day. They have done a phenomenal job with player retention. 4 Quote
HookemTexas Posted Friday at 06:20 PM Posted Friday at 06:20 PM Like CJ said, it's not like he lit the world on fire last year. He was pretty f'ing terrible in a number of games. Such entitlement. And I imagine his O-line wouldn't be all too excited to block for him if he comes back to the team. 2 Quote
Hashtag Posted Friday at 06:24 PM Posted Friday at 06:24 PM (edited) When you break down his passing touchdowns it's crazy! His multiple touchdown games Vandy(7-6) 4 UTEP(3-9) 4 Miss St(2-10) 2 NC St(6-7) 2 12 of his touchdowns came vs teams that are a total of 18-32 Edited Friday at 06:26 PM by Hashtag 1 1 Quote

SB21 Posted Friday at 07:08 PM Posted Friday at 07:08 PM Wild to see a starter “sitting out or holding out due to contract negotiations” at the college level. You’re 19-21 years old “supposedly” already getting millions to play football and run around in college with said money. Why not just enjoy life and have fun at this point instead of blowing up the situation over money like you aren’t making enough at that age already. Smh. It’s just a different game now for real. Class of 04 Posted Friday at 07:19 PM Posted Friday at 07:19 PM Kid needs to change the last letter in his last name to an E, then it would be more fitting. 1 Quote
Realist Horn Posted Friday at 07:30 PM Posted Friday at 07:30 PM Since it's the Spring Portal, Nico would not have any SEC teams bidding on him - and not sure many would if the $4mil price tag is close to what he's seeking 3 Quote
