Whitehead is taking a redshirt. Mercer isn’t on the roster for the regional. McCreery has been injured. Moffett has had control issues. Navarre and Rerick had mixed results in limited duty. 1 Quote
B2inATX Posted Sunday at 03:47 PM Posted Sunday at 03:47 PM It was a tough game to watch. Tough on our fans, too. Three rowdy UTSA fans were cruising the walkway between the upper and lower decks, hurling insults. But things got really ugly when they threw a drink at a regular fan, a young man with Down’s syndrome, who sits in the handicapped section. They also shoved his grandfather. Cops were called, but it took a while to calm things down. Really a shame. I’ve seen that kind of stuff at football before but never at baseball. Ugly night all around. 1 Quote

TTown Posted Sunday at 03:49 PM Posted Sunday at 03:49 PM It was a better than expected season. UTSA was a tough draw for us in this Regional. Trending bad this last month. No way this team wins 3 in a row , but sure hope I am wrong. And will also cost us a chance at the Director's Cup as well. But again way better season than expected so enjoy those times. Quote

I get it, he hasn’t been the best the last few weeks. The only problem is, the depth at SS is very shallow. If Texas felt confident in someone else, they would put them there. I'd tend to agree if he struggled just in one aspect of the game but he struggles offensively and defensively. Personally I hope Schloss moves on from Tulo. Outside of our guys hitting home runs and scoring via that we don't hit well as a team at all. It's been that way under two different HC's now. Edited Sunday at 03:55 PM by Hashtag Quote

If that’s really what happened, I seriously hope Lisa Campos and the folks at UTSA find the culprits and ban them from attending sporting events. I try not to jump the gun when it comes to banning/canceling someone, but that’s outright gross human behavior. 2 1 Quote

Sad to think a player at that level can’t execute a simple bunt but if that’s the case get someone at the plate who can. 1 Quote

Deadhead_Horn Posted Sunday at 04:35 PM Posted Sunday at 04:35 PM Something we have talked about ALL SEASON. Situation hitting and more from the bullpen is what separates national champions with the rest of the bunch. Up until this point, those two issues have plagued Texas for the majority of the season. I am not holding my breath that they will suddenly figure it out this deep in the season, but I do think they can pull off a little winning streak here and advance. They are clearly the best team of the bunch, they just dug themselves a good hole. 1 Quote
taxsaver Posted Sunday at 04:37 PM Posted Sunday at 04:37 PM we're certainly not out of it yet, but the truth of the matter is that we regularly SO 10+/game...as if we're facing Nolan Ryan every game. And, of course, the other truth is that you should never underestimate the incompetence of your opponent. Hang in there and let the chips fall where they may. HOOKEM Quote
f1revo Posted Sunday at 04:50 PM Posted Sunday at 04:50 PM ARod at 2B was worse than Flores. Kid can't field a damn ground ball. Failed like 3 separate times. Quote

There is a reason the winner of the 1-0 game wins the regional 85% of the time or whatever it is. Yes. A team with three established weekend starters and a plan for weekday games. Texas has done it multiple times over the years. This team was getting so close to stability with Riojas taking over Sunday. Then Stewart hurt and moving from Sunday to Friday broke Riojas. 1 Quote

He strikes out in 45% of his plate appearances, has 1 hit in 12 AB’s in SEC play and has looked lost in the outfield. Of people who should maybe get more playing time, he is pretty far down the list. And what he did last year doesn’t matter. We have a 50+ AB sample size of him this year. Well said. A little more blunt than I would have put it, but you are spot on. 😂 1 Quote
CoachBobbyFinstock Posted Sunday at 05:48 PM Posted Sunday at 05:48 PM (edited) Losing to UTSA should never be on the menu. Texas has lost not once but twice to this bunch. They don’t have a single adv over Texas in any capacity. This would be one of the most embarrassing losses or outcomes in a while. This team better figure it out fast. Losing to UCLA in a super is one thing but UTSA at home in a regional. No. Edited Sunday at 05:49 PM by CoachBobbyFinstock 2 Quote
Class of 04 Posted Sunday at 06:28 PM Posted Sunday at 06:28 PM (edited) This is where you find out who your find out who are the Alpha's and who are the Beta's. Right now there is a fairly sizable portion of the team is playing like the latter, if you can't be mentally strong at this level it's time to hang it up.
