With the Arkansas AD heading the committee you had to know that Texas has little to no chance.

This right here is the main underlying reason we won’t make it.

The hate for Texas is real from Arkansas and you can believe he is being adamant about not letting us in.

My guess for tomorrow’s final playoff field.

Agree. The only possible thing I could see the committee doing differently is putting Georgia over Ohio State.

I think Miami jumps ND.  A lot of talking heads today pushing for head to head compare since teams are right next to each other in ranking.  I would guess bama stays in, although they don’t deserve based upon their play over the 2nd half of season.

It would be the right move to make

Spoiler

This, folks, is the mess that we ALL made - the planners, the coaches, and us, the fans.

We were mad when ou played for the natty and we were out with 1 loss, so we wanted a playoff.  We got it.  4 teams.  Then we said, 'that aint enuf!' and expanded now out to 12.  There is no magic number, guys.  Someone will always be left outside looking in, and this year it's us, and Vandy.  Maybe another couple of teams.

We were, in essence, not ready for our season this year.  Tough schedule - yes; blown easy game - yes; and nail-biter games that were just as an influence as the osu and Florida games.

Take it; build on it; and come out with a passion next season.  Begin by giving the players and fans what they saw in the aggy game - DOMINATION - in the bowl game.  Destroy the opponent.  Then the snowball with start to roll.  HookEm.

How dare you create a logical top 12 ranking of the best teams in CFB?

What a world. Texas Tech is a middle of the pack Big 12 team and in one year spend $28 million….probably more….and now the #4 team in the college playoffs and a first round bye. What a world.

To hell with that. Curt cignetti took over a 3-9 team and has lost 2 games in 2 years and just went 13-0 and B12 champs and soon to be #1 in the country. With probably less than half the budget as tech

I don't understand why the media (TV especially) don't apply more pressure on the committee to change the selection process. Nobody can't be interested and will watch a szoozefest like Oregon trashing JMU. Tulane might get lucky with OLe Miss being handicapped offensively but otherwise this also wouldn't be much of a contest. That's 2 out of 4 games in the first round (presumably) not drawing great viewership/ratings. How can they be happy with the current system?

Not just less than Tech. A lot less than UT as well. Just look at recruiting rankings.

I think I seen a stat that said they were the 72nd ranked team based off talent or something along those lines. It sucks that cignetti is as old as he is. I’d love for him to be at Texas down the road.

I’m not advocating for Texas Tech. I am saying that is what college football has become.

They don’t care. But I bet you Sankey raises enough hell at about 3 pm today that they’ll already be pushing to get 16 teams in next season. The AQ bids for the G5 and the ACC need to end. A team with 5 losses winning your conference tells me your conference isn’t strong enough to even have a say in the argument

If you look at the composition of the committee it is basically a joke.  They are all affiliated with football in some way, but not great football.  Yurachek—give me a break.   The AD from Virginia?   There are a few people on here that MIGHT be good and watch every game and cafe, but let’s be real. With NIL and parity these are the people making the decisions.  This is what we are up against folks:

Chris Ault: Former Nevada head coach.

Troy Dannen: Nebraska Athletic Director.

Mark Dantonio: Former Michigan State Head Coach.

Mark Harlan: Utah Athletic Director.

Jeff Long: Former Arkansas & Pittsburgh AD.

Ivan Maisel: College Football Journalist.

Chris Massaro: Middle Tennessee State AD.

Mike Riley: Former Nebraska & Oregon State coach.

David Sayler: Miami University (Ohio) AD.

Wesley Walls: Former Ole Miss All-American.

Carla Williams: Virginia Athletic Director.

Hunter Yurachek: Arkansas Athletic Director (Chair).

This here is the problem. Why won’t they just give retired coaches something to do and put them on the committee instead? Saban could be the chair.

Whether we are in or out this year, I am not for sure choosing a playoff bracket is ever going to be fair. Too much difference in the conferences and too much difference in the scheduling. Some teams have an extra hard game with a conference championship game and some don’t. Some don’t even have a conference. When it was 4 teams, 5,6,and 7 were arguing they should be in. I said if you go to 12, 13,14,and 15 will be arguing. You go to 16 or 18 and the same thing will happen. And alot of them have arguments. We’re just all different and it’s never going to be totally fair. Especially you have humans deciding it and the biases start coming in. Nobody that has ever been at Arkansas in any capacity is ever going to vote for Texas to be in. I guess play a weak schedule and win all the games and they can’t keep you out.

Zero logic there. There’s a massive difference between hey we’re in but not playing a home game versus hey, we’re clearly one of the best 12 teams in the country but aren’t even in the playoffs because we have two sacrificial lambs that are going to be in over us and Miami. As a fellow season ticket holder I’d rather the option to purchase playoff tickets for the first 2 rounds than going to a meaningless bowl game.

Agree.

Definitely not following the logic and linkage between being a season ticket holder and 24 teams.  Two rounds of playoffs at home campus locations (17-24 all play at 9-16 in week 1 then winners play at home fields of 1-8 in week 2).  You'd rather only have one round of games at college campuses?  Not me.  I'd prefer first two rounds on campus, setting the stage for quarter finales in major bowls.  JMHO.

It’s expensive enough as it is.  You’re also getting into family time.  I’ve missed maybe 5 home games in 30 years, one being Clemson for that very reason.  The 24 teams devalues the regular season.  You only play 12 games so we may be in the midst of a debate as to whether we schedule tough teams.  I care little about a team that loses 4 games (or 33%) getting a shot at an undefeated.  So there’s a possibility that we shelve the marquee games.  If so, I’ve now lost one of the best reasons to have tickets.  Even if you get that one back in the postseason, you may be paying for an extra throwaway game early on.   All in favor of shuffling the chairs on the Titanic.

The more teams you allow in, the more debate will ensue.  Not just who is in but the seeds.  Those seeds determine who gets byes, who gets home games, who get the James Madisons.  All those factors will get teams hyper focused on manipulating their schedules to maximize their opportunities.

I gave my reasons subsequent to Kevin’s initial post.  Rather than being so arrogant and stating there was zero logic there perhaps you should inquire as to what my logic is before making such a declaration.  And the point you are making is not one that applies only to a 24 teams playoff.  Sure, this year I’d rather be in than not.  And you can certainly track my posts to reflect that.

I am an old man now.  So many years ago, the last time I played a game of football I never knew, never thought it’d be my last.  It was.  There are emotions associated with that.  So I’m not going to call a bowl game or any game meaningless.  But you go ahead.  And as a fan, I’ll look forward to it and cheer the Horns on.

Additionally on the season ticket holder bit, I feel the need/desire to be there for all the big games.  The more games you have the more pressure from a financial and time perspective.  Perhaps you have more of those resources than I do, perhaps less.  I have no idea.  But I’ve already gone through the exercise of attempting to manage this thought process last year.  Adding another layer does not help that but also just expands the issues on the selection process.  These dudes can’t handle 12.  They won’t be able to handle doubly thst.
