Would he be penciled in as the starter at center? I thought Cruz was the chosen protege to take over at center, he's been in the program for 2 years?

Are we looking for a starting center from the portal if Robertson doesn't come back?  Would you consider Robertson a plus player in regards to other starting centers in SEC ?

These are my questions for the mods or the die hard offensive line gurus who watch our lineman on tape.

Something tells me Daniel Cruz has not developed in the way we had hoped. Whether he stays or goes, my bet is we see plenty of experience at that position next season.

The fact Cruz has not cracked the starting lineup is yet another failure on Flood either from a recruiting standpoint or a developer. He had all his eggs on Cruz given we didn't recruit any other centers the last few years. It's one of the reasons for the failure this year and might affect us next year to an extent as well if we don't get an experienced center from the portal. If Cruz turned out to be a solid player, he would have gotten his growing pains out this year and we'd be going into next year with a solid line. Now it's almost as much of a question mark as it was last off season.

Both Gerry and CJ have reported that the staff is very happy with his development. Offensive lineman take time to bake more than any other position, especially at center

I'm hopeful about Cruz the way Gerry talks about him, but at this point I'm tired of talking about potential.

I get it, but until we see him on the field then that's all we have to talk about. Only the coaches can decide when that is. How many centers are ready to start in year two? Probably not many

Everything will be on the table regardless of who returns or departs. It won’t hinder Texas’ pursuit of the best possible options at every position.

We are looking for all interior positions and absolutely no one should be penciled in as a starter for next year on the OL outside of the tackles.
