Bobby, Was listening to Most underrated portal pickup episode - details below.  It was a pro J Crockett ad.  Is OTF affiliated or selling advertisement space to that campaign?  Was surprised to hear it, but if I do again, you can cancel the subscription.  Its a sweet deal for you, auto renew at the high rate,several years going, but I happily support the show.  I will no longer if that is indeed the case.

Given everything you know about Bobby and the way he conducts business—particularly given his zero tolerance for injecting politics into OTF content—do you actually think that the scenario you’ve laid out is likely? Either way, the respectful thing to do would have been to send him a DM instead of throwing a public fit and threatening to cancel your subscription because you got an ad you didn’t like. Not a great look, brother.

You do understand that free apps run their own ads so they can continue to provide a free app or website, right? I get weird pro-fascist ads on YouTube and twitter, I just block them. OTF sponsor ads are read during the episode by the staff, from local legal/financial services to manscaped. Where else would we get classic Gerry quips from

Each day i live i am more and more astonished by how radicalized people become towards one side or the other when in the end neither gives a piss about you. I’ll go to a gun store in dripping springs that’s waving a MAGA flag, come right back into Austin and hit my local coffee shop waving a LGBTQ flag.

As @Gerry Hamilton mentioned, it's not on the OTF side. We can't control the commercials that YouTube, Spotify, Apple, etc interject into our shows.

A lot of times, however, those ads are targeted based on you and your browsing history. So if you've been looking at politics, news, etc.... you're more than likely going to get political ads versus a person who only gets online to read about building birdhouses, for example.

But, no, WE don't do political advertising. Can't say the same for our hosting platforms.

While I understand your concern, be assured that we do not accept political advertisements.

If one is out there, it’s through a third party like YouTube which we have zero control over.

Got a question/comment on this topic I’ve been meaning to share. I listen to a lot of the shows through Apple Podcasts, but the mid roll ads are brutal. Only option I can think of is YouTube premium, which seems like overkill because I don’t need the video. Any other options? If there were an OTF direct ad free subscription I’d sign up.

Youtube premium is the solution if you don’t want to see ads from Youtube.  Otherwise, you’re at the mercy of their algorithm.  IMO, it’s well worth the price.

I knew it had nothing to do with OTF , but i’ve been on U-Tube. for years first time i’ve noticed. It was rather disappointing. Obviously everyone knows apple & U-tubes Political views. I pay no attention . Always love your programming.

I only like ads if they are MAGA ads.

My wife wanted to test it out a few years ago, I figured alright after the trial we'll cancel, nope still have it.  It's so worth it not to have the ads.  And on the family plan you can add whoever you want up to 6 people, so we just split the cost with some friends making it the cost of a coffee cup each month.  You also get youtube music, which allowed me to cancel spotify and apple music subs.

YouTube ads in general, political or not, have gotten pretty wild, so I agree.

Just use an ad blocker extension or a browser like Brave on mobile.

These multinational companies don't have "political views". They bribe both parties because they can via the Citizens United ruling. 

Googles whole revenue model is ad money, so obviously they're going to happily accept that money from whomever with primary elections coming up.

Not really.  There are workarounds.  Watching on Duck Duck Go is very easy.
