It’s a pretty surprising statement for him to admit that he hasn’t felt like he’s had a complete roster in terms of top-level talent on both sides of the ball until this year. In the interview, he also explicitly compares this roster to the ones he had at Bama. It’s hard to argue with those assessments on paper. I think Texas has the best roster in the country going into the 2026 season. But Sark also needs to elevate his coaching to match those claims. This might be the best chance he ever gets at Texas to win it all—can’t squander this roster.

Expectations need to be high with so many of these players not expected to be back next year.

If you look at a projected starting 11 on Offense how many are back next year?  Over/under 1.5?

Please slow the hype train before we're preseason #1 again, ugh

Who are you talking to—me or Sark? I don’t see any problem with Sark exuding confidence about his team. And if this team is the best roster in the country, maybe it should be deserving of preseason #1. But they’d better back up the talk.

I know Bobby isn't a championship or bust guy, but if there's ever a year where it's championship or bust, this is it.  Next year with all the potential pros leaving and a new starting QB, while Texas will be reloading, won't be as lofty expectations for a championship.

So what is the true expectations here with this team for the upcoming season?

Natty or bust? That is a HARD task.

Sec champ and no Nat? Is that good enough?

10 plus wins is a BUST??

What is the base expectations?

I'd prefer to keep expectations in check until we believe in the 2 deep at OL and S coming out of Knoxville.

How Texas performs in the Ohio State game will determine the expectations I have for the season.

The portal has made it so hard to determine which teams will actually be good next year. I don’t think you can say it’s natty or bust for anybody anymore. That being said, this is for sure Sarks most talented roster during his time here. This team will lose several key pieces in the 2027 draft especially in early rounds. If he doesn’t get it done this year I’m not sure when he will.

This is a good problem to have.  We are how many years away from a place where a coach's main expectation for the players was to have light yellow pee?  The only guarantee when a coach has low expectations is that the team will meet them.

Well as he said many times, winning is hard, for him.

Always interesting how people’s minds work.

This team had enough talent/skill to win it all last year.  Just because you don’t win it doesn’t mean they were incapable.  It needed things to break right, which obviously didn’t happen.  Lack of experience hurt but will benefit this years team.

Now this year we go “all in.”  That could mean several things, but to me it means we’re paying significant dollars in an attempt to buy a championship.  But I’m on the outside of what that looks like in terms of those dollars.  The guys footing the bill for this years team are the ones who need to answer the championship or bust.  But as a nobody, based on less than full information, I’d lean towards anything short of a championship is a bust.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that we have more talent and depth than ever.  We’ve largely whiffed at recruiting at DT for the past 5 years.  If you didn’t like last years RBs, then that was largely a whiff too.  The portal and NIL allow you opportunities to build up your team.  That didn’t exist 5 years ago.  Sark was a right choice at the right time for this program.  He has done well taking advantage, but he needs to finish the job.
