Califashorn75 Posted Sunday at 12:14 PM Posted Sunday at 12:14 PM I am just really glad that Bri Preston stayed. Two years in the system, learning from Rori Harmon, played valuable, crucial minutes last year, she's now ready to be the starting point guard. She should improve her outside jump shot so that would make her game even better! 10 Quote

Califashorn75 Posted Monday at 12:34 AM Posted Monday at 12:34 AM I hated to see her portal. She must not have been happy. She felt Coach gave up on her. She had a lot of positive growth here. Wish her all the best. 4 Quote

TexasFanatic Posted Monday at 08:31 PM Posted Monday at 08:31 PM Eric Morris is getting a heck of a defensive stopper in Crooks. Good for them 2 Quote
Geoff Eneman Posted Monday at 11:42 PM Posted Monday at 11:42 PM Nothing on Edwards? Or any other additions? Quote
HookemTexas Posted Monday at 11:45 PM Posted Monday at 11:45 PM Portal closes today so I'm guessing/hoping there's going to be some updates in the next couple of days. 1 Quote
Califashorn75 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Other than Olivya Edwards, (doubt she comes here) Coach Vic might close it up. Which means he is satisfied with Lovisa's development. At 6'6", she is going to be that two headed monster he likes. Bri Preston staying is a very good sign. We just need to see who emerges as the shooting guard and the power forward. My guess is Addison Bjorn at the 2 and Isi Itute at the 4. Amanda Holguin will sub in for Bjorn, and Crittendon subs in for Itute or Booker. Meanwhile Lizzy Spaight comes in for Preston. That is a sweet rotation. 1 Quote

We still need some experience and size if we want to get back to the Final Four. This team is a level or 2 lower defensively with the loss of Rori, Lee, and Oldacre. If we do run with what we got, expect the first half of the the season to be rough if we have a similar tough schedule we had this past year. It's going to take time for the freshman and Vann to reach a Vic level of stamina and acuity on defense game to game. Hopefully by end of year, we'll be good enough to make a run for Madi's last year. 1 1 Quote

Especially for two starters who left?!? That means there would be four empty roster spots. So Vic isn’t thinking about injuries? Texas had three this past season and has at least one every year. Vic said he was looking for a Center and shooting guard last week before they signed Vann. Excerpt from Houston Chronicle: Edited 8 hours ago by TexasEx_10 1 1 Quote

From the woman’s bball version of Trilly Donovan. Have any idea why ? I’ve asked this question before & received no answer. Vic seems like a great coach . But he went a little overboard on his praise for Harman in my opinion. She was great, but it is a team sport. 1 Quote

That still leaves a guard and center. Lol 2 Quote
Layton_Sharp Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago If Vic is about to close it up then I don’t feel nearly as good about the team as he does. I think there’s definitely work that needs to be done to get where we wanna be. 2 1 Quote

Califashorn75 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago It could be a rebuilding year with the infusion of youth. I feel like the recruits coming in are all ballers with a lot of dog in them. Obviously, experience does matter. I would like another center with some games under her belt and maybe a power forward. Although, it appears like guard play wins the games. Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Ol'Miss, LSU, and Kentucky are going to be nightmares in the SEC. Quote

I do know that Aaliyah Crump had forged a strong relationship with Duke prior to coming here. Coaches don't stop recruiting. Justice Carlton was homesick. And Jordan Lee's parents want a bigger bag! That's it. End of story. 2 1 Quote
Steamboat Willie Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Is Olivya Edwards basically a Louisville lean because she’s an Adidas signee, or does that not really matter anymore in today’s NIL era? I believe the Adidas angle is overblown and this is going to come down to fit, role, and NIL, not shoe brand. If she wants high usage + to be “the piece” instead of “a piece,” Texas is the play. This is going to come down to whether she wants optimization (SC), usage (Texas), or brand/NIL (Louisville). South Carolina is still the cleanest system fit; Staley has built her entire program around players like Edwards. Texas might actually be the best role fit though if she wants to be a focal point early instead of fighting for touches. Louisville probably brings the strongest NIL/Adidas alignment, but it’s the weakest pure basketball fit of the three. Quote
TexasEx_10 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago A rebuilding year for Madison Booker’s senior year is criminal. If this was football, everyone would be crying if Sark was depending on a freshmen class for Arch’s last year. I love Texas. I love Vic. And I love Booker. If this is truly a “rebuild” year, she should have left and I am 100% serious. 3 Quote
HookemTexas Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago If Texas is supposed to be in the top 5-10 of NIL and WBB programs, there better not be any rebuilds at all and just reloads. That's terrible ROI if you're reloading with the money allegedly being tossed around. Quote
Califashorn75 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Well "re-build" has a negative connotation, however, the talent coming in is amazing. Unfortunately, we lost Rori to the draft. We will also miss Kyla. We won't miss the three portal transfers because Isi Itute is much better than Carlton, Bri Crittendon is better than Aaliyah Crump, and Addison Bjorn is bigger and just as good a shooter as Jordan Lee. Hopefully, Bri Preston can step in and run the team! It's interesting that Coach Vic had really been quiet throughout this process. 3 Quote
