Interesting there is no adidas or Pat Mahomes brand logos on this statement

Ha, Tech left the Adidas and Mahomes logos off because even the logos said, ‘Don’t drag us into your clown show'

You could give the young man a free education and unfettered access to whatever support he needs, while also not allowing him to be on the team after years of continued breaking of NCAA rules and betting on his own team.

Showing the young man care does not necessitate him being allowed to continue to play football at your university.

He doesn't care.... he got caught

I would think playing quarterback in the situation is going to be so stressful as to be detrimental to the players recovery.  Seems like this young man needs to stay at Tech, not play ball, regroup and work on his recovery until time to declare for next year's draft.  Tech pretending they can only help him if he is on the team is a real bad look.  Pretending he is better off in the pressure cooker that is big-time college football is ludicrous.

What are the odds that Yormark grows a spine?

I don't know, but the release of this statement and Joey canceling his press conference make it seem like they're starting to feel the pressure from all of this. Now it's just a matter of seeing what, if anything, comes from it.

I actually appreciate some of the clarification of facts and can't say I would handle the situation differently with my own son (I have daughters).

But this isn't "new". He knew the rules and risks and he wants a different punishment. What if the NCAA comes back and says OK the punishment was too much. He can only play in half the games. Or can't participate in the post-season (a common punishment for team violations). Are we good or is everyone forced to follow the "whatever the court says" in these future scenarios?

Nobody is saying that we don't want this person to get treatment and be better but this ruling essentially says the NCAA has zero authority to enforce their own rules.

Cody just said the quiet part out loud: Tech cowered in the corner while the injunction was being considered, hoping they wouldn’t have to make a hard call. They hoped the problem would just go away. The AD’s statement is a testament to their pathetic cowardice and lack of moral fortitude.

Loved how he refers to the school that he punches every button for in the third person.

It's in Tech's power to bench him permanently and/or let him get on to the supplemental draft. There's nothing stopping them from doing the right thing for the integrity of the sport, other than their own desire to win at all costs.

If they allow Sorsby to play, they endorse gambling in college sports (as long as you go to rehab when caught and pinky promise never to do it again. Honest. This time.)

Tech should get the death penalty for even challenging the all-sport rule of integrity and gambling. It's not out of their hands. They want their $6 million quarterback but just don't want to take the blame for it. Pathetic.

There have always been schools in backwater locations that can get away with more than the blue bloods because the media lights are brighter for Notre Dame, Texas, USC, etc. No one really gave a crap about what's happening in Lubbock, so they thought they could get away with whatever it took to win and no one would notice, or they'd forget quickly.

Now they're squirming in the national spotlight and can't figure out how to turn it off. Tom Brady was right in calling them a glorified community college. Their response has been just that. Just F them.

Tech is saying it without saying it.  NO FOOTBALL NO HELP.  that is the worst part of this whole thing.  he has to play football for the help to continue.  Makes them so low class.

This just in. Texas Tech is suing Oregon for beating them like a rented mule in the playoffs. The loss cause harm to tech and caused Cody to have mental health issues.
