SB21 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago The “coach” was doing his thing up in Waco…. impressive run and his offense was putting up points all the time like Leach up in Lubbock. But the “guy” running the program the wrong way showed all we needed to know to be glad he didn’t end up here. Can’t forget how much chaos ensued up there under his watch. 2 Quote
mmdaytontexas Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Patterson was a stickler for the rules, and his rule was everyone interviewed. Briles thought it was beneath him to do that, and Patterson told him thanks for taking my call. We got punished with Charlie, but after the Briles behind-the-scenes stuff broke wide open, we all realized we were blessed that his circus didn't end up in Austin. That is one thing we can thank Patterson for. 5 Quote

Texas fan in Georgia Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago RG3 also said Mack told him at the end of a game to transfer to Texas. Imagine what could’ve been. 1 Quote
Quinncent McManning, Jr. Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago Obviously in retrospect we are glad this didn’t happen. In an alternative world how different would the last 13 years have been with Saban or Briles taking over for Mack? Quote

Really can't say "Saban or anyone else" in the same sentence. Frankly, the best coaching job in the B12 for a run of several years was by the 40 year old man [I'm a man] with the mullet. The most successful coach was the chinless one at our rival. There were a dozen better choices than Charlie apparent to the naked eye. None of them were Saban, who wasn't coming. None of them were Bob Stoops. None of them were the mullet. All of them would have likely been more successful than Charlie; maybe even very successful. Patterson was the wrong choice as AD. Leave it at that. 2 Quote
Oldest Horn Posted 53 minutes ago Posted 53 minutes ago When was Briles’ last extension in Waco, and did it coincide with him “turning down” the Texas job. Quote

Roy Hinojosa Posted 8 minutes ago Posted 8 minutes ago It would be nice to have a comprehensive breakdown on what went wrong with the end of Mack Brown's tenure and the subsequent sh*t show that followed. Whenever something is brought up like not going after certain QBs like Hurts, Luck, Barrett and I can go on, the curtain opens just enough but then abruptly closes. How did Texas get it so wrong for so long? With the hiring of Patterson to Charlie Strong to Tom Herman, things were bad. Hell, Chris Warren the other day on X was saying he was surprised they won any game in 2017 because how dysfunctional things were behind the scenes. That's crazy 😬 Quote
