One Major Thing (Please read)

Guys,

This board is not going to become what other boards are or have become.

First, I don't mind small cuss words, when used in a certain way. Like, "damn, I wish we would have won that game."

But I don't like, and we will not allow, cuss words directed at or describing individuals, be they players, coaches or fellow board members, or anyone really.

To this point, we have not had a major issue. But I saw a couple over the weekend that I edited.

Second, I also do not want to see this board going down the road of becoming a place where certain narratives go unchecked. This coach sucks, or this player sucks, etc., without speaking about why.

Right now, Terry Joseph seems to be the punching bag du jour. Well, he wasn't that until Terrance Brooks put his name in the transfer portal combined with a poor performance by the secondary in the spring game.

In approximately one week, a rain of fire has come down on Joseph that I think is unfair. It's one thing to question, it's another to denigrate or state as absolute his ability as a coach. People will speak to the overall ranking of the secondary yet neglect Texas improved its third-down defense to being one of the best in the nation this past year. Clearly, the secondary played a role in that.

I'm not sitting here saying we can't all discuss the merits, Rod, Gerry, CJ and I have all done that, but I'm not gonna let a coach or anyone just get assassinated.

If that's what you're looking to do, then that needs to be done elsewhere.

We started this board because we wanted it to be something different.

Free of cliques, free of people talking down to one another or about others, etc. I'm not saying everything is sunshine and roses, because it's not. I am saying there's a respectful way to discuss these things.

And just how bad could the secondary have REALLY been when we averaged giving up just 18 points per game in the Big 12?

I'm not in either of the keep Pierce or fire Pierce camps, but what he's done in conference play with always dropping the first game and always winning the series is one of the most impressive things I've seen from Texas baseball

Keep it clean and fun....that's the environment that allows growth! And hopefully this board, outside of the Gerry command center picture, doesn't pick up lame memes that other boards have such as "On Player X."

This board has become my favorite. Bobby, Gerry and Blake do the best podcasts I’ve found. Plus, the news items are not littered with infighting and insults.

No one is saying he's perfect.

But the idea that he suddenly forgot how to coach baseball after going to the CWS four years is kind of bizarre. Could he be doing a better job of building the roster? Fair question. Acting overly dramatic like he's some sort of bozo is not fair IMO.

Open to that dialogue and that's what needs to be discussed. Name calling doesn't need to be part of that.

Bobby, that's great to hear! Your team definitely provides the best coverage of Longhorn sports and recruiting.  This message board was a great addition to supplement your video content.

I am glad you put this message out there, as I see the number of members growing here daily, including some members from competing sites that have brought little value to those boards for years.  I'm hoping they can become more positive contributors here and leave behind their tiresome shticks.

I'm not a Pierce hater, but there's nothing impressive about "always dropping the first game".   It's sad he has to sweep the last two games to get a series win (even at home), although I credit him for getting the wins.

Pierce decided to take over pitching this year and pitching has been an abomination. He takes a hit for that.
