Saturday - Three Probable

Featured Replies

Yesterday morning, I went with the over-under of three of the Texas injured players being able to play today.

Well, three players were moved up from questionable to probable.

  • Ryan Wingo

  • Graceson Littleton

  • Kade Phillips

That means Colin Simmons and Cam Coleman remain questionable and are possible game-time decisions.

I think it’s interesting how we got to yesterday’s injury report.

As of yesterday morning, I was told Coleman and Simmons were actually unlikely to play and that one of the DBs was 50-50 at best.

It was somewhat disappointing news overall because early in the week, Texas was hopeful Simmons could play.

Now let’s talk about the game itself.

Missouri has an offensive identity. Texas doesn’t, at least not a consistent one.

Missouri has a solid defense. Texas has an elite one.

Special teams feels like a draw, though Texas has had the steadier placekicker thus far.

Both coaches are solid in game and time management IMO.

Texas may have an advantage when it comes to depth of talent. But Missouri is plenty talented to win this game.

Both teams are 6-2. And the game is in Missouri.

On paper, this is a toss-up. In Vegas, it’s the same (Texas favored by just 2.5 points).

The team that wins today will likely get on top early in the contest and then lean into their strengths. For Missouri, that’s its run game. For Texas, it’s the defense.

First one to 17 points wins this game.

I think the ball just might bounce the way of the Longhorns because the Horns’ defense are starting to create turnovers.

Why am I so nervous. Part of me tells myself that we played and beat Ohio State, Tennessee and Ole Miss. Then the other half thinks about the OU and Florida games. Ugh. Just need them to win . Then I can enjoy the rest of the games that are played.

Would love to have Colin back today. However, if we can manage to win without him again that sets us up very nicely for him to be ready to rock and roll against the bayou bengals. Honestly, if I have to choose 2 of 3 of the probable to be limited I’d say Phillips. Given what we know about Mizzou and their offense I think we can work around him being limited the best. Still don’t have a great feeling about this one with all the injuries and offensive issues we have. Either way Hook’em!

Got this strznge feeling

Its Muschamp ! That he is resching in ….. going to unleash packages … never before seeen!

I say Collin Simmons plays….. gets 2 sacks … breakout game!

Muschamp knows his players are special….he is turning looooose hell

Justus Terry gets 1 -3 sacks

Biles - Cryer are all over the place!!!!

Texas goes Man….Blitzing…. 3 deeep…

Goodluck w handling that talent

penalties and turnovers. that will be the ballgame.

which crew will be reffing the game? please tell me it’s not slingblade…

We are all nervous because we know that everything is on the line, no margin for error, a must-win. It's that time of the year when you want your team to get 'hot' and run the table.

We are gonna do this. HookEm.

Hope is :

We find a big Back…. Terry emerges w 100 yds and hback wr! Dream

That Justus Terry becomes unblocksble……. Marry that dL w Geffard snd Lance

Arch just drives the bus! Steady

You give the above ….. that might alliw 3-5 games to get Arch in his groove!

Wingo is going to play. This is a homecoming for him.

And the Texas offense has an identity. The offense lacks balance and tempo. It predictably runs the ‘ball on 2nd down. While on first down or third down it will sit Arch in the pocket to wait for long ass pass routes to pop open. On first down, they will often attack the outside with quick swing passes or screens fo the WR… but don’t worry, they’ll have someone out there who can’t block.

That's the tough part of today. Such a good slate but if the horns lose there goes my mood lol... but good vibes only, horns w into the games.

I think we intercept Simmons twice today and win handily, not scoreboard wise, but game feel wise.

Bobby, since Mizzou's wheelhouse is running the football and not passing, is the loss of Simmons in this game less of a blow since the other DEs are really good at setting the edge and stopping the run, especially Spence?

Simmons is actually surprisingly good against the run because he gets off blocks very well. Spence is not as good at DE stopping the run because he has shorter arms and doesn’t get off blocks as well.

Now Vasek, Lance and Zina, that’s in their wheelhouse.

Because if we win, we are in

I don’t think that we want Simmons with a gimpy ankle setting the edge all day against a 300 lb. tackle. Let Terry set the edge on run downs and insert Simmons into the Rabbit sub package.

Not sure I agree with this. Simmons over runs a ton of running plays bc he’s blitzing with his head down, gets too far up field and they run it to his side

Do we Want

ole Miss to beat Georgia

LsU to beat Bama

Tenn to wup Kentucky?

would that jump us over Georgia and Bama?

I like the depth and physical attributes of Roberson and Mathews. But it feels better reading we probably have our experienced starters Littleton and Phillips ready to go.

With Muschamp using Biles more effectively as a disruptor and to a lesser degree Cryer, we have continued to limit the run, affect the QB and play elite D, even without Colin.

I believe in our D to give us a chance to win. But it won't be easy. I expect our D is going to bring out a more focused and intense Missouri.

I wish Sikorski and Cojoe were teamed up so we might have a better chance to run the ball.

A probable Wingo should boost our chances of scoring more. You know Wingo wants to play really well in front of his family and friends as he returns to his home state.

This game likely comes down to some combo of turnovers, special teams, Sark calling a good game and our OL performance being improved.

I believe this is a must win game for Texas and their CFP pursuit.
