I’ve never called for Flood to be fired, I’ve always thought he was a strong hire. That said, his track record with elite Oline recruits isn’t where it should be, and the run blocking has been shaky. He’s got to bring in more top-tier talent and get the line playing with greater physicality. It’s fair to say he’s not flawless.

Who is flawless? Show me....

Do you feel there are those who are unwilling?

What I mean is there are problems we all have that we aren’t always willing to acknowledge are there. Plenty of times humanity is either blind to or dismissive of our own flaws.

So, nothing to do with the team or staff. Gotcha.

I agree.. but I don't think Kyle Flood or anyone on that staff is above reproach. All of the individuals are accepting of criticism and that's evident by the results we've attained as a team, whether it be wins or drafted talent in the NFL. Even those that were picked up as free agents are a sign of the development process here at Texas. Again... it kinda reminds me of a high school team. We always had 1 big non district game that we looked at over the summer, and by the time district started, we had an idea of what we wanted to get done and who would do what. Sark's team is young and a lot of these guys are learning what it takes. We just have to be patient and enjoy this process.

Everyone is expecting this line to play like veterans.  Outside of campbell, the rest of them have started <10 games.  Oline may be the position group that needs to gel more than any other postion group on offense.  They sre all learning how to play their positions plus with eachother st the same time.  Look at his track record.  Hayden connor when he first got here versus when he left was night and day difference.  The one year that christian jones had with him made him look like a completely different tackle and got drafted.  Let him do his work and trust the process.

He has the only unit that I’m concerned about.

He has all his players now in his 5th season. I hear about experience but Robertson, Campbell, Neto and Hut are all 4th year guys. Goosby is our best player. Baker, while young, is also the highest rated as a 5 star.

We didn’t bother with the portal. So we haven’t developed as well or we didn’t have a handle on how this group would perform.

I just don’t see a lot of excuses for him and this group.

He had 3 years with Jones.  Granted he was at tackle, but Jones had more bully moments there than possibly anyone with him or since.

The problem is, they way they play has nothing to do with inexperience. At least, imo. Also, you're forgetting that Hutson has played since he was a Fr. He has a ton of snaps.

Hayden Connor is not a great example, he still wasn't that great by the time he left. Jones I can give you, who stayed for a couple of years.

I'm also not expecting them to play like veterans. But I do expect them to play much better than they have. There is noticeable issues on the OL that have nothing to do with their experience.

Like our QB execution the first three weeks were of season, you’ve interpreted poorly.

Arch was terrible for all but 4 minutes of the first 3 games. He was horrible, flat out terrible. Couldn’t even complete a simple completion and didn’t see many many open receivers running crossers.

Yep.  Completely agree. It’s between the ears imo. He played excellent last season with his starts against Miss St and UTSA. Showed grit and moxy against A&M and Georgia.

SHSU PFF Grades

Goosby: 64.7
Stroh: 63.5
Robertson: 51.8
Campbell: 71.2
Baker: 69.2

Nate Kibble: 56.7
Daniel Cruz: 61. 1
Nick Brooks: 71.2

Overall not very good given the caliber of opponent we faced. Should use the bye week to go insert Cruz at center and slide Hutson over to LG. Once again Stroh is the lowest graded starter.

I don't know what the solution is. I watched the game again and there is flashes of the OL doing well but then I just see so many poor moments. This is against one of the worst FBS defenses around at the moment.

How that isn't a concern for people, is worrying to me. I know we put up 600 yards and 55 points but the OL is still a weak point.

I'm not sure there is a quick fix for it, this seems to be our best 5 including or excluding Hutson. This is going to be a concern moving forward into the SEC. OU has a pretty good DL, not sure but I think Florida is pretty good on the DL, too. We'll see how we hold up there.

I don’t know what to think. I know Texas has notoriously played down to opponents. I’m sure their mind will be in a different place playing an SEC team and they’ll look and perform better.

Have you ever watched anyone else with the same fervor?  Maybe go watch several other games with the same intent.  In the run game, it’ll be tough on a given play for every guy to win.

And I will tell you that broadcast footage is pretty limited.

More context.  We are 59th in run blocking grade and 42nd in pass blocking.  Ohio State is top 20 in both run defensive grade and pass rush grade.
