HookedOnTF Posted Monday at 04:10 AM Posted Monday at 04:10 AM (edited) One last thought on National Firing Day: what do Ed Orgeron, Gene Chizik, Jimbo Fisher, and Mack Brown have in common? Hint: it's different than Day and Saban. But you can argue Urban and Dabo are in the same camp. None of the guys getting their papers this week have it. Edited Monday at 04:11 AM by HookedOnTF Quote

But to your point on 2 semifinal appearances: we didn't win, and Penix super cape mode aside, the offense was not up to the task. The RZ and 3rd down issues are mind boggling. So I'm not sure the argument is reassuring. As for Arch, I'm in disbelief that his floor is not "competent college QB". The yips behind this line may be a real problem - but looking at him in context of Card, Casey, and Quinn, there also seem to be some recurring themes with mechanics and panic. The paradox there: -if Arch doesn't portal, it seems unlikely that he will be headed to the draft next year, so 1) he's gotta turn into Pavia not Allar in '27 while 2) how do we retain and develop QB2 into the '28 QB? - if he does portal, who's your '26 QB and does he repeat the steep leaning curve? I agree with you about RZ and third down issues. However I think QE was an excellent college qb thst ran the offense efficiently in 23/24. Certainly injuries held him back and he never threw the deep ball as well as he should have yet we won a lot of games with him including Big 12 Championship in 23 and we were 2 or 3 plays away from 1 Winning SEC Championdhip game 2 winning either or both of the semifinal games. sark needs to evolve but to me he is a top 5 college coach. He had the program going in the right direction but we have major issues in o line and at qb I suspect he will get this fixed unfortunstely hx is full of highly ranked QBs that just couldn’t perform when they got to the big stage. That list may well have Arch on it soon. As far as who can be the qb. I suspect Lacy eill be the guy but then again I thought Arch would be great. Unfortunately he isn’t even functional 3 Quote

I have no idea and can't follow this logic, but I can't imagine a coherent argument that would put Ryan Day in the same sentence as Saban. Quote

Ambassador of Texas Posted Monday at 10:19 PM Posted Monday at 10:19 PM As HC and OC Sark is not being his best at either. If he wants to remain HC and do what’s best for the program he needs to delegate play calling. This does not mean he relinquishes oversight of the game plan each week or the prerogative to override calls in crucial in-game situations. But a dedicated OC/playcaller is able to focus 100% on the offense during the week and in-game. It must be done to reach our ceiling - both offensively and overall. 2 1 Quote

With 4 OL that went to the NFL Two WRs that went to the NFL Our TE went to the NFL Our QB went to the NFL Basically our offense went to the NFL and in that year (last year) we were 38th in total offense. is that good enough? AusMOJO Posted Tuesday at 05:37 AM Posted Tuesday at 05:37 AM People act like just because he's been to back to back semi finals, that he is not allowed to be criticized or that he isn't fireable. Now, do I want him fired? No. But it is clear that things have to change (not the HC). Look what happened to Franklin, who was arguably better at Penn State for longer and was in the semi finals last year and possibly the natty if not for Allar. Yet he was let go. If Sark is too stubborn or arrogant to realize that things need to change, he will find himself facing the same. That is just how it is. It should be inexcusable for a team to look this bad. I understand it's a road game and all that but that was just absolute dog water. If Kentucky and Stoops weren't so brain dead, they would've put 40 on us. Excusing that we lost a lot of talent to the NFL, like we're the only team that lost guys last year lol. Come on guys. I think calling for him to be fired right now is stupid. But with how things are fairing in College football, you're not going to be given a lot of leeway for long if you continue to put up efforts like that because you've been to "back to back semi finals" Just my useless two cents anyway. 3 1 Quote
DocHorn Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Sark is loved by the University administration and by the big money donors if this yr ends at 8-4/7-5 and next yr is another disappointment then I believe he will be on the hot seat in 27. However I believe in the guy. I think he gets us fixed and back to 10 or 11 wins next yr and good chance at CFP. If not 27 will be a must win yr for him imho 1 Quote

And if he hasn’t been able to develop that same QB after three years in his system, that’s on him too. He’s supposed to be an offensive guru, but at some point, you’ve got to show it. This is Sark’s offense, Sark’s roster, and Sark’s responsibility. Please explain how Sark is supposed to go on the field and make routine passes for Arch. Arch is clearly having confidence issues. If he gets those fixed, I’m sure this offense looks immensely different and all the cryers calling for Sark’s head would be doing the opposite and wanting to anoint him and build a statue in front of DKR. We have to let Arch figure out what’s going on in his head. We don’t have a choice. If he can’t figure it out this season, I’m guessing things will be changing drastically in the offseason. People were calling for Mack too during the Simms/Applewhite years and then we ended up with a natty and 2 seasons that arguably could’ve ended that way barring 2 miraculous plays. Not an Aaron Rodgers fan but I will quote him here. R-E-L-A-X… Quote

Texas should never be rebuilding, not in this day and age, and that is in fact on Sark. Ultimately he makes a lot of money, and he needs to justify through performance the earning of that money. 1 Quote
