  1. This is frustrating. I've no idea how we keep losing these types of guys, lol. Anyway, enough of the pity party. Best of luck to him chasing DB's after Arnold throws 5 interceptions a game, lol. Shame we missed on the kid who went to A&M, that guy has ridiculous speed, too.
  2. Outside of Brevard and Hunter, who we were targeting and got at least one. Who else in the portal fits the Texas size/production and could be a potential target?
  3. I think there is cause to be concerned a little, but I have trust in this staff to get it done. Davis really left a hole, that Baker is now t rying to fill (his first class is amazing, btw). Justus Terry, 5 star, 6'5 275, Myron Charles, 4 star, 6'4 295 and Josiah Sharma, 4 star 6'4 325. Those guys are all going to play for Texas. January has a ton of upside, excited for his development/future. Hills I really have no idea about, hope he stays though. Brevard is a great addition. Hunter is a big loss, because he had the size and production that the staff covets. Haven't really heard of anyone else being a target in the portal. I thought Silver from Kentucky would be one, but I don't think he is. So while I'm not overly worried, I am a tad bit worried with the portal closing. Although my understanding was that the window is closing, not your ability to sign players from the portal? So there still may be a chance some playoff teams bleed some players into the portal before it closes, right?
  4. I think if the kid from Clemson jumped in, Texas would be all over him. Woods I think his name is? There are guys in the portal that fit the bill for Texas, but they aren't going to rush their decisions on guys. Not how this staff rolls. The portal may close on the 28th but that only means guys can't jump in, I believe. Not that you still can't sign them. To your point about Lee Hunter, I've seen some places say he has committed officially to Texas Tech but I don't know if he's signed? Wonder if he would still take the visit to Austin or not.
  5. I don't think it's a horrible idea. There's not a lot of 300+ pound guys in the portal with proven production. In saying that, I'm not sure this guy production wise fits the bill. He also looked like he got pushed around quite a bit considering his size. We also did lose out on Hunter, for what it's worth. Some places seem to confirm that he's officially committed to Texas Tech. Now, whether he signs with them is a whole other thing.
  6. Also a few other former Longhorns have found landing spots in the portal now. CB - Cole has committed to Arizona DL - Bryant has committed to Vanderbilt
  7. Well, just further proves what they hell do I know. According to people out there and even 247sports, he has officially committed to them.
  8. They also landed Van Buren at QB. Apparently in the mix for Sydir Mitchell.
  9. Well, Davis did recruit him. He'll need to improve quite a bit to get playing time. Actually put work in, something he's seemed to not do much of under Davis and now Baker. Someone said for his size, he gets washed out too easily and he still plays too high. Was hoping Coach Baker might've been able to help him out, but apparently not. Shame too, because I think if put the focus in and really got after it, he has a ton of upside.
  10. Could be that he wants to take all his visits first before deciding.
  11. Thanks for the info CJ and sorry that we're all so annoying sometimes, lol.
  12. That's the one I was talking about, but I'm not sure if they've been in communication (I'm not an insider or have that knowledge), but he has proven production and has the size. That's what I've been looking for with guys in the portal is the size Texas wants and some form of production.
  13. I get ya, but we'll just have to wait and see.
  14. Looks like he could be heading to SMU. There's still other options in the portal if we don't land Hunter, it's just that he's the top option in the portal with proven production (at his position). Guys like Blay, Shaw and even Silver are still out there. Maybe they wait and see who gets in during the Spring window? Maybe some guys haven't gone in yet? No one really knows. We're all freaking out over Tech offering Hunter big money but he hasn't even been to Austin yet. For all we know, we might match that offer and then the ball is in his court?
  15. Not sure what the obsession with Branch is, but he's not better than Singleton.
  16. Branch isn't worth it, imo. We don't need or want his brother. Plus he's regressed quite a bit. Singleton over him, imo. RB isn't a must position to grab, one of those guys would be nice, sure. But the problem is, they're leaving their current spots because of competition and then you want them to come to Texas, to have even more competition? Not sure it'll work out like that. Then again, what the hell do I know? Lol.
  17. Doesn't mean much when you're still not very good in general. All that big spending, to do what exactly? Be average in the big 12? Lol.
  18. Well, it also seems like we haven't even had him on campus yet. So don't count us out yet, if he leaves Lubbock without committing, I'd say we're in a good spot.
  19. I think missing on Hunter would be huge for Texas. That guy is a must grab at DT. But if he wants to go play his time out in Lubbock, by all means but business wise it would be very stupid. We have a pretty decent track record of putting DT's in the NFL and probably a few more this year. Can't fault the guy if the deal is that big, Texas might not think it's worth matching a crazy #. I know we can't land everyone, but I guess we'll see if he makes it out of Lubbock, I'd say our chances are really good.
  20. Sorry, but these demands are ridiculous, lol. Why would anyone agree to that? Would've told him to kick rocks.
  21. Has he been to Texas yet or is this his first stop? I highly doubt he goes to Texas Tech but you gotta field all offers, right?
  22. I agree, but most thought they would try and get another experienced CB to pair with Muhammed. But I really like what we have there personally, too.
  23. I saw in the transfer portal thread, that someone mentioned Bobby and Gerry saying that both Singleton and Hunter could be tonight or tomorrow. Guess we'll see. Both would be huge additions. Though I think Ole Miss is throwing everything, including the kitchen sink at Singleton.
  24. I'm going to need to brush up on my Basketball knowledge. Trying to get more involved in cheering on other Texas sports. I tried watching some Volleyball this year but I've zero idea what is going on half the time, lol. In CDC we trust, as everyone says. He'll make the right decisions. Sounds like it'll be hard to pull a great HC, most of them seem happy where they're at or are getting close to retirement ages/have retired.
  25. Do we think CDC let's Coach run out his contract and see where it's after that? Not sure what his buyout would be anyway. He seems to be doing alright so far this year. One thing I've noticed is it's harder to recruit Baseball and Basketball, because kids can go to the pro-leagues a lot sooner than they can in football. Not even that, there is more opportunities for them to play overseas in Europe or Australia. I'm completely out of the loop when it comes to Basketball though. I do remember someone saying that CDC is a huge Basketball guy, so if Coach Terry does start struggling, I'm certain he would more than happily pull the plug, so to speak.
