Normally the trash talk is reserved for Quinn Ewers . You can’t watch a podcast without someone speaking negatively about Quinn . He has done many remarkable things for Texas .  Put us back on the map . Came in as Texas starter after Texas went 5-7 & went 27-5 & 11-1 in away games .  He will be fine where ever he goes .  Bert has the talent. Obviously didn’t show it last year . Hope the young man has a great year wherever he lands . Hopefully Bert has the mental toughness to work through the past criticism. Bert has been a vital part of The Texas Longhorns progress.

More of this...🤘🏿🔥🔥🔥🫡

Man you obviously weren't here for the Chris Simms years. Him and Ewers had very similar careers but the hate for Simms was 10x what it is for Quinn.

Rod B is probably observed that Auburn had the “Yips” towards the end of last season and probably could not mentally overcome it in time when it really mattered (ie the SEC championship game against Georgia). Very tough situation.

I can only imagine the pressure and scrutiny he would have faced next season with all the hype and media attention focused on Texas next season.

To top it off, he was competing for his job against Will Stone—and perhaps decided it was better to move on rather than sit on the bench after years being the starter at Texas.

I wish him the best.

Bert Auburn announced this afternoon that he's entering the portal as a graduate transfer.

After setting a school and Big 12 record with 19 consecutive field goals in 2023, when he was a first-team All-Big 12 performer while making 29 of 35 attempts, Auburn struggled in 2024. He was 16-for-25 on field goals in 15 games, including a combined 8-for-14 against Kentucky, Texas A&M, Georgia (SEC Championship), Clemson (CFP First Round) and Arizona State (Peach Bowl).

Auburn's 1-for-3 performance in the Peach Bowl led to Steve Sarkisian opening the kicking competition. Will Stone kicked in place of Auburn in the Cotton Bowl loss to Ohio State, going 2-for-2 on extra points (Stone didn't attempt a field goal against the Buckeyes).

When he was asked about the placekicking competition following Monday's practice, Sarkisian said: "We haven't done enough yet. I think we'll start to really ramp it up here on Wednesday. We've done some, but now we've got to really start to ramp this thing up to get a real gauge on what it looks like."

Good luck. Needed a fresh start.

Not to pile on, but do we think special teams has collectively gotten worse since Coach Sark's first year? I remember they used to actively get after Punter's and try different looks, etc. Plus, our recruiting at the K and P spots hasn't seemed all that great.

Is there an issue there that needs to be addressed or am I making too big of a deal on that?

Regardless of my complaints, wish this young man all the best, despite his struggles last year, we can't forget all the good he did and that he was a good Longhorn. Hope he finds the right spots for himself and to the person who said get a haircut, I disagree, the fro looks great.

I think we were pretty decent on special teams in 2022 and 23. But last year was poor.

Your username reminds me of that guy who used to sell juicers on infomercials at 3am. Lol

Having a special assistant like Joe DeCamillis seemed to make the special teams unit pretty solid in 2023.  I believe Texas hired a special assistant for special teams a few months ago so we’ll see if that helps the unit get back on track.
