Bert Auburn announced this afternoon that he's entering the portal as a graduate transfer.

After setting a school and Big 12 record with 19 consecutive field goals in 2023, when he was a first-team All-Big 12 performer while making 29 of 35 attempts, Auburn struggled in 2024. He was 16-for-25 on field goals in 15 games, including a combined 8-for-14 against Kentucky, Texas A&M, Georgia (SEC Championship), Clemson (CFP First Round) and Arizona State (Peach Bowl).

Auburn's 1-for-3 performance in the Peach Bowl led to Steve Sarkisian opening the kicking competition. Will Stone kicked in place of Auburn in the Cotton Bowl loss to Ohio State, going 2-for-2 on extra points (Stone didn't attempt a field goal against the Buckeyes).

When he was asked about the placekicking competition following Monday's practice, Sarkisian said: "We haven't done enough yet. I think we'll start to really ramp it up here on Wednesday. We've done some, but now we've got to really start to ramp this thing up to get a real gauge on what it looks like."

Good luck to Bert.

the conversations about Mason Shipley got a little louder last night than when he originally entered the portal. But let’s see what the staff ends up doing.

Genuinely, this kind of talk about a 20 year old kid who set records for this school, deserves this.

That’s cool but the last memory we all have of him is costing us a conference championship and almost costing us a playoff.

He needed a fresh start. Im a softy for these kids, he had to turn off comments on his Instagram…. Makes me so sad for him. No matter what people say, he is our all time point scorer. In the Texas record books. Thank you Bert, and best wishes!

excited to see what Will Stone’s got (or a portal addition)

Normally the trash talk is reserved for Quinn Ewers . You can’t watch a podcast without someone speaking negatively about Quinn . He has done many remarkable things for Texas .  Put us back on the map . Came in as Texas starter after Texas went 5-7 & went 27-5 & 11-1 in away games .  He will be fine where ever he goes .  Bert has the talent. Obviously didn’t show it last year . Hope the young man has a great year wherever he lands . Hopefully Bert has the mental toughness to work through the past criticism. Bert has been a vital part of The Texas Longhorns progress.
