HonkEm Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago 35 minutes ago, GoHorns1 said: Again you show lack of knowledge last year was Arch’s 3rd year of install of Sark’s system, weight training, running the offense. Three years in the system” doesn’t magically mean he was ready - it just means he’s been present. Sark doesn’t hand out snaps based on attendance. Arch still needed real‑speed reps, weight, and timing, and Sark wasn’t about to stunt him so you can pretend “years on campus” equals “game‑ready.” Texas protected him. You’re proving you don’t understand the difference between being there and being ready. I’m done arguing with you --- I respect your posts, I just disagree with you on this. 1 Quote
HookedOnTF Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago In an alternate universe, QE could have gone pro a year earlier and Arch would have needed to be ready to go (still getting the spotlight and Heisman hype). That's not a dig on Arch early last season, just saying an extra year only helped him, but the OL roster mgmt plan clearly wasn't successful in setting him up as a new starter. Quote

Move on. Look forward. Changes for the better have been made. Noone is making ludicrous projections about our team this season thankfully. I agree. “Move on. Look forward.” I think most, if not all, has been discussed, cussed, and debated already by this board and the Mods in one form or the other. Quote

Both of yall make valid points. I agree as a first year starter there will be a learning curve regardless of class. At the same time we have seen several QBs around the country hit the ground running as a first time starter. Arch was very notably behind for a QB who was part of the program for 2 years, and the O line who made him speed up his decision making didn’t help either. Good news is he picked it up fast second half of the year. Let’s hope he continues the growth and the O line shows up now! Quote

mmdaytontexas Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Listen, that film breakdown was in the bowl game. That OL was still making the same mistakes in game 13 that they were making in game 1 against OSU. Okay Arch missed Wingo on the dig rite, but that was not a clean pocket either. The DE|LB was right in his face. So, how many of those errant throws all year were due to Arch rushing and forcing a little because he knew he had an OL with a penchant for blowing assignments? To say the OL "protected him" is like saying the Secret Service protected Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. Well, he didn't get killed, did he? That's about the same logic. Blowing your assignments in game 13 and forcing your QB to make Superman plays is not "protecting your QB." I agree with the dude breaking down the film. No way in hell the OL should have been making those mistakes in the last game of the year, and no way in hell should our WRs be dropping that many balls that hit them in their hands. The DC got fired for struggling with his D late in the year, but maybe one other coach should have been given his walking papers as well. The film doesn't lie. 1 Quote
Burnt Orange Horn Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago The preposterous part about this whole thing is that if the Mannings thought that Dark was failing Arch, he would be gone from the program. 🤘🏻🤘🏼🤘🤘🏽🤘🏾🤘🏿 1 Quote

Cole has played in 48 games for Texas , he can play multiple positions on the O Line. Also very few O-line coaches are able to say they have put as many players in the NFL playing on Offensive line as Flood has in his career. Quote
Moderators Jordan Scruggs Posted 35 minutes ago Moderators Posted 35 minutes ago Brooks has some decent points, but one thing I could never stop thinking about last year was how it took until the 9th game of the season (Vandy) for the starting lineup to consist of the most experienced bunch (Goosby, Hutson, Robertson, Campbell, Baker). How did that happen 1 Quote

The DC got fired for struggling with his D late in the year, but maybe one other coach should have been given his walking papers as well. The film doesn't lie. We scored 41 points. The most Michigan gave up all season. Here is some PFF data. Arch was pressured on 19% of dropbacks, only 3 of 8 were attributed to pass protection. Goosby, Robertson, Shannon. So I guess we saw all of them in that video. After watching the film Guy, I kinda thought “is that all you got?” On the season there were 169 qualifying QBs included. Only 10 were pressured less than 25%. Only one, Carson Beck, at less than 20%. So that Michigan game was a pretty low pressure rate. It was our highest P4 pass blocking game of the season except maybe Arkansas. This is the Film Guy’s, 3rd review at least, about Arch. He sucks. Well maybe it’s his foot. It’s the Oline. This one for sure falls short in relation to what should be expected, what actually happens, what’s typical for any game. All games against good, relatively evenly matched competition will have these type plays. And the misfire on the throw, there is something to the pressure. I think that is massively lost in the OSU game. Some of these mechanical issues are because the QBs view is distorted so they become off platform or the timing is changed because the window isn’t clean. Even the end zone view doesn’t always tell that part of the story. Quote
